new to the forum having been recommended it from another member , i have a 2015 diesel that i bought as a non runner , after alot of mechanical and diag work with Alfaobd and other software i managed to get it running but only on 4 cylinders , NO1 & 2 injectors were blocked solid , replaced with 2 2nd hand ones which were tested before fitting , still no joy , then i was told the new ECU i had fitted needed to be numbers matching ! that was 5 months ago and since then ive been advised Maserati are no longer making the correct one so i got the latest version for my VIN code had it cloned and now the car only turns over 4 times then stops , its repeatable and there are no fault codes at all , im depserate for help to finally finish off this project so i can enjoy the car , any advice is more than welcome at this point PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN !!!!!
thanks

Hi Simon

So @conaero is tagged as a good starting point although there are going to be other specialists a bit closer to you.
If you go back to the other ECU, will it run on 4 cylinders still? (Seems worthwhile getting that other ECU being problematic out of the equation)

Done the basics like compression test?

Rather surprised it doesn't give any codes at all, how have you determined it's 1 and 2 at fault (not that I doubt you, more curious)

Anything throwing up on live data from the diagnostics? Did you change any settings with that tool?

To me turning over like that and stopping is indicative of the ECU sensing a “no fire” I’d have thought it’d record that.

i agree with you both , the car is booked in to jct600 bradford next week to get the ECU coded to the car and to check the injector codes are correct , all being well it will then run properly , i do wonder why it isnt bringing up any codes for the non start ?? i would of expected at least a flashing EML

Maybe the ECU isn't even capable of recording a code if it needs coding? Wild guess but I really hope you get it sorted

id say thats probably the right assumption to make pal , Matt ( thanks ) kindly advised me yesterday , he explained how the ECUs are set up and that i should take it to maserati , obvs will report back once its been there and hopefully i will be driving it off the transporter

Have you got a price off jct before they start? Be careful with them

I used to take mine there but found a good independent. I'm near Middlesbrough.

Bit of an update , got the new ECU vin coded , all injectors fully coded still 4 turns no start , the tech is liasing with italian techs to get to the bottom of this but looks likely they will install a full ECU file from the factory as the suspicion is an immobiliser issue , see what occurs

another update , after a software update the car runs but injectors 1 & 2 arent doing their thing , this is where i was at before , they have performed a wiring harness check and a compression test via diag , however the latter was inconclusive , its been suggested the fuel pump timing might be out but ive never seen a common rail engine with a timed hi pressure fuel pump ?

Neither have I, unless they just mean it’s not turning on at the right point.

Do you know you’ve got fuel going into injectors 1 and 2?

How do they know 1 and 2 are working? Is it from the diagnostics? If so that’s just indicating a misfire which could be nowt to do with the injectors.

I think you need to pull the injectors. See if they have fuel coming out and do a proper compression test whilst they’re out (I’m assuming it’s direct injection).

i replaced the injectors mentioned with 2 tested ones , the originals were blocked , as i said i had the car at this point 6 months ago , they stated fuel is reaching the injectors , its a diesel so common rail or a version of ,

Could they be blocked again? Maybe you’ve got something in the fuel.

You can compression test a DI diesel by removing the injectors and screwing in an adapter. I think that’d be a good call at this point.
