What a great thread. I have just received my mitt and other stuff from Amazon. My skin is soooo soft. Great recommendation

Another tip for you. Get two and keep one just for cleaning your alloy wheels. Saves any risk of brake dust ending up in the mitt for doing the paintwork and they work well on the alloys.

Good man. If you applied it to that relay, perhaps it would help?

There was another thread about fitting FD valve controls. Picture of the battery compartment. No relay.....

Anyone with an opinion on the order of things?
Wondering if I should use intensive tar remover then the clay mitt or the other way round.
I guess if I clay mitt first, then just use the intensive tar remover after on anything that remains and is very tricky to remove?

I would personally use the tar remover first if you have tar splatter, if it's just general grime, I see no reason to use anything other than the clay mitt

My Alfa 147 clearly hadn't been washed for about 15 years, so I have to soak half the car in the tar remover first, but the Maserati just needed a quick going over with the clay mitt

1. Snow foam if your using it.
2. Hand wash with meguires gold or similar.
3. Tardis or autoglym tar remover on the lower panel parts, sills and wheel arches. Leave to dwell and then quick rinse of those areas with a hose.
4. Mix car shampoo meguires gold or similar at full strength for a bucket but only half fill the bucket with water. Use this as the lubricant for the clay mitt. Clay mitt whole car.
5. Final rinse and dry.
6. Wax or quick detail spray if your going that far.

Dont forget to prime your clay mitt by doing the glass with it first if it is a new mitt.

Lovely, although you've not seen the car, I think the whole thing needs tar remover! :)
Anyway, when you say prime the mitt on the windscreen, what do you mean?
I was also planning on using quick detailer as lubricating spray - as I would with a clay bar. Is that not the accepted best method?

I used a strong concentration of car shampoo In a bucket with my clay mitt, keeping the whole panel and mitt very wet, just use it like your washing the car with it, it's very simple

Don't use quick detailer

I usually use "Finish Kare #425: Extra Slick Final Body Shine" for quick detailing and claying, which is a great product.
Perhaps I'll try both ways and see what works better/easier!

I promise you use the shampoo method, you need to keep the paint and mitt soaking wet, unless you don't mind using 5 litres of detailing spray you risk damaging the paint work
