The prices being achieved for circa five year old GranTurismos' is really encouraging. What I'm not sure about is whether Maserati has turned the corner residual wise or whether this is the case of a combination of a reasonable number of people who can afford £40-50k now for a prestige car and the fact that lower numbers of these cars were sold new 2009-11 in the aftermath of the crash.

Whatever as an owner I'm having pretty cheap motoring for what I'm driving.

I think it's a combination of both a more stable & growing economy and the fact that the GT & subsequent models are better made & therefore holding their prices better. I was looking on & off for a GTS for around a year and the prices have hardly fallen, if at all

All the above sound like interesting factors, probably a culmination of them all. It is a fantastic amount of car for the money if we are talking about 5 year old GTS's at sub £50k. If you look at what £50k gets you in terms of cars to compete with the Maserati it is a no brainer!

A few years ago there were quite a few of 'us' who could not really afford new Maserati's but could stretch to good quality second hand ones.

When Maserati hiked the prices in 2007 it locked out a lot of the buyers in that camp.

Some of the 4.7's are now affordable for the same demographic.

If I didn't have what I have now, I'd probably have bid for this white GT-S - it ticks all the boxes for me.

Try living in Australia.

You can't even get a good Gransport for that GT-S bargain basement price.

Let alone a 2008 GT.

Really sorry we couldn't do a deal Mark, Porsche were pushing to get everything done by Friday to ensure I fell into "end of the month" etc. Would have loved to see the car go to a good home, but it wasn't to be!

No joy finding out what they're doing with it either, had about 3 people ask me. Sure it'll appear somewhere soon, fully tyred and brake padded up!

The 991 911 Turbo is fantastic, was going to post some thoughts but was worried it would be considered blasphemy to do so on the Sports Maserati forums! I haven't quite figured out what anyone means when they refer to them as boring or dull thus far, perhaps it will hit me at some point but having too much fun to notice....

Cheers all

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts as a previous owner of several older model Porches.
How, arguably the worlds best all round, iconic, reliable, incredibly fast and desirable sports car can be described as dull and boring is beyond me.
Great purchase, different car to the maser but with capabilities the trident can only dream of.
Cheers Wattie

No worries Si I think Porsche did everything they could to protect their Sale and meet the month end Sales target - I am sure it will turn up shortly as the car is so distinctive it will stand out like the proverbial. I am on the lookout for an identical replacement with all the carbon and Mc shift so watch this space.

I hope you are enjoying your new ride must be quite different to the Maser - Is it blasphemy ? no we are all car enthusiasts may be even a picky or two would not go amiss and share with us the driving experience

Thanks
Mark

Don't think that you will find the turbo boring, you may however find that exciting = insane custodial speeds in the blink of an eye. ;)
