I used to have 5 year old P zero’s on mine which would send me sideways at the drop of a hat really difficult on the PS4’s

I’m planning to get Michelin’s after my PZero’s have given up which won’t be long.
Was thinking to do the same but I do wonder if the difference felt will be down as much to fresh tyres with full tread vs a few years old and only 3-4mm...anyway will be interesting to hear about it.

There certainly is something in the new tyres are always better than the old ones purely based on tread and grip available but I have swapped nearly new P Zeros with Eagle F1s and Bridgestones and the improvement is still noticeable especially when the road is cold of damp.

Yep, run Pilot Sport 4S on the GT and Pilot Sport 5 on the 360.
First impressions on the 5s, Brian?

I had in mind (but could be wrong) that the 5 is a replacement for the PS4 but not for the PS4S. There will be a 4 Supersport that will replace the 4S. Or I could be completely confused and entering some kind of ChatGPT hallucination.

You can’t get PS4S in 18 for the 360. It’s unlikely the new replacement for PS4S will be available in 18 either so my only option is the PS5. It’s not a bad tyre, far superior to the original P Zeros or Bridgestones SO2’s.
AV are now suggesting the PS5 for all 360s.

I thought you couldn’t get PS4S in the 18” sizes for a Spyder anymore in the UK
The problem is the rears; the 265/35 r18 size is not available in PS4S. I went with 275/35 instead. I started another thread on the forum about this and got some good opinions that 275s would work fine, which they do. The fronts are 235/40 r18 which are available. ATS Euromaster in St. Albans did mine. I paid £712 in total including all the balancing/disposal/valves costs etc. that they stick on, which I thought was quite good. Also they actually inflated them to the pressures I asked for which not every garage does.

The PS5 is the replacement for the PS4.

The new replacement for the PS4S is, rather confusingly, the PSS5:

I had PS4S on my Quattroporte Sport GTS which, while excellent tyres, I found a bit "soft". When Michelin launched the original Pilot Super Sport (PSS) and then the PS4S they were way ahead of their competitors but they have since caught up. I have put Bridgestone Potenza Sports on my Stradale which I think suit the hardcore nature of the car much better (stiffer sidewalls?) and are significantly cheaper.

I have S4S on my Gransport and I’m very impressed, but was equally impressed by the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport which is probably more available and slightly cheaper, ran them on the Giulia Quad and thought they were fantastic, maybe a slightly more aggressive turn in than the Michelin from what I could make out, which was important to me when swapping from the P Zero Corsa.

Thread drift :D
back to OP - much prefer the new PS4S to the well worn zero
as several wise buyers report, any new premium tyre will be massively better than your sh@gged out rubber.

The PS4S was noticeable better grip in both wet and dry. Not sure it is worth the premium over other current alternates. Also the 20" option does allow greater choice so guess. I am lucky. Will happily try Eagle F1 or Bridgestone if available but P-zero are no longer on the podium.

ref the 18" availability - I have added 10mm to tyre width several times, to get better choice. Personally not concerned about Insurer issues if I had a massive accident. Adding single digit % more rubber would take a super sleuth to detect. Defective tyres or hopelessly cheap brand / shoddy replacement wheels might be red-flag to insurers. Up to each buyer of course.

This I think is a new variant, S5, so maybe this is the 4S replacement (there was no S in the Pilot Sport 5 originally)
