I've got one of those Chinese diesel heaters still in the box,I bought it for use in the motorhome I'm going to get it out and see how complicated it'd be to set up for home use
Saw a guy in you tube that has one running - located outside and decked through the vent (normally used to allow air flow for an open fire) into his living room.

But a huge queue so I didn't.

It's the same at all of the costco's, I only ever went if the tank was empty, the few times I have been the queue was out of the car park and on to the entrance road so I didn't bother.

Costco is a victim of its own success, too many members now

Saturday morning and the Smart Meter is reading just under £64 of gas usage since Monday 00:00 and that's having the central heating on only 2x times a day... No idea how people can afford this who don't have properly insulated houses and higher earnings.
We're around £30 for the week and have the heating on all the time (set at around 13 and up to 15 in the evening) and all radiators on (except for those under a window when the curtains are open). We've got little heated throws, so heat the person, not the room.

Our gas consumption is crippling ( £30 a day), or was i should say, as had gas leak last night and now have the gas capped off until new gas stove gets put in... so no central heating.
Cadent were excellent, came in 30 min, professional , and left us with two free convection heaters and two hot plates to cook

That's positively arctic Annie!. You can tell you drive a rag top! I unplugged our smart meter when it stopped showing decimals...

Out of interest... do you know what the temperature is in your living room? I have put hygrometers around the house, anything below 19C is pretty uncomfortable for us. When the heating is off overnight it drops to 16C... based purely on your thermostat settings our heating would never come on, did the builder install your thermostat in a stupid place like ours (near the front door and garage door where it's always cold)

Update on the gas bill £76.82 I think we will get to £80 potentially depending on how cold it is this evening! Mental!!!

Electricity is "only" £15.06

That's a lot, this month running at £13.50/day combined gas and electric, of which £9 is gas. That's with all our heating and cooking on gas at the moment, including gas AGA. Like I've said before with an AGA there is no wasted heat, if it isn't cooking its replacing central heating gas consumption and drying clothes.

It is alot. Its my own fault. Bought a house that needs a lot of work... more than can chew.
Single glazed all round old wooden sash with draft and probably not much insulation anywhere

Er...we pay an average of 110.00 per month USD for natural gas, which heats the house, water (tankless) and powers the Fisher Paykel range. I hate to mention, but quite the difference. And our house is completely uninsulated (except in the rooms I have finished). The first two rooms were built on-site with hand hewn timbers in the early 1900s (yes, pretty old for here but not for there) and the new windows and doors are sitting on the covered porch, waiting for me to install them...

Dreadful to hear about what you all are grappling with, honestly.

Our Barn was built in 1667 and we are the first humans to live in it 4 years back. 2ft stone walls and then water/vapor barrier and then 18" of herdwick wool insulation betwen the interior metal skeleton which has all the interior floors and walls fitted to it. So inside it is square and outside is just a facade.

The only room that ever gets cool is the main bedroom as one side is made of glass, so that and the dining room (lowest floor) are the only ones that ever have the underfloor heating used, and that's turned off now it's above zero.

Wood burner is all we need to keep the whole house hot... but 19° is the max I will ever set it to... any more than that and the Golden Retriever passes out!109452109453
