What crisis. Ours is on full chat.

Saturday morning and the Smart Meter is reading just under £64 of gas usage since Monday 00:00 and that's having the central heating on only 2x times a day... No idea how people can afford this who don't have properly insulated houses and higher earnings.

Even with the cap, our gas is x5 more expensive than 12 months ago :(
...and I was tight when to put the heating on back then!!

oil 60 dollars a barrel this week fule still through the roof heating oil 90p robing bas ds
The Airport shell was 151.9 this morning...It has been dropping quickly, it was 156.9 last week.

Remember you have to factor in the GBP-USD exchange rate as it's traded in dollars. So a drop in price per barrel can be negated by a drop in GBP-USD.

I've got one of those Chinese diesel heaters still in the box,I bought it for use in the motorhome I'm going to get it out and see how complicated it'd be to set up for home use

I consider myself fortunate in this crisis in that I able to make savings in other areas of my life to offset the increase costs.

Such as :
  • it’s winter so I am not using a tank full of fuel every two weeks in the Maserati or the classic
  • a meal or two out each week reduced to one
I appreciate that not everyone is in the same position.

We have of course cut back on heating, but thats more around turning the radiators off in the rooms we don’t use in the evenings than not having it on in the areas we use.

I genuinely feel for people who don’t have savings to make and so are being hit very hard.
