Yes, me too. RIP. Truly inspirational, although I didn't really like a lot of his later stuff.

FAKE...........Another celebrity fake death
Forget what I wrote in this post, seems it is for real. It was all over the internet about it NOT being true and people posting on Facebook (and other places) wrongly about his death.
Now it appears to be true. So sad, one of great musical performers of all times, saw him many times live.

BBC reporting that family member has confirmed it after 18 month battle with cancer age 69.

Shocking he was an inspiration.

RIP

Just seen this, shocked one of the most innovative musicians of my time.

My first album was Aladdin Sane and through all his changes I still love his music, I know what will be playing most of today. To me probably the musician that has been with me the most.

RIP - Starman

There was a 3-day Bowie weekend on the radio, from Friday to Sunday. What did those people know?
Another one passes away..

That it was his birthday and his new album was released on Friday at a guess :)

Terribly sad news. Spent a long time listening to his stuff over the years. And quite a chunk over the weekend as it goes. Blackstar is great, and then I did a whole load of others last night.

Shame I only saw him once, in Sound + Vision, and it wasn't all that.

Great man, though. Great shame

RIP The Thin White Duke, a great musician.

Cue loads of people pronouncing his surname incorrectly over the next week or so - already mispronounced on the radio this morning!

its probably the same people who say Maseratty
I'm gutted at his death

Solo artists that changed the course of popular music and culture can be counted on the fingers of one hand . Bowie was one of them . And released his final album Blackstar a week before he died , which only now reveals its true meaning today . Avant guard , origional and never ever boring till the day he died .

RIP The Thin White Duke, a great musician.

Cue loads of people pronouncing his surname incorrectly over the next week or so - already mispronounced on the radio this morning!

Yup, RIP Legend.

A loss for British popular culture. Similar to losing Freddie Mercury. I don't see guys like this being produced any more in our music. When Jagger and Daltry go, who will be left that can have that level of global impact.

Under Pressure with Queen. One of the all time great riffs for mine.

What an artist.

Such an enormous impact over several decades, re-inventing himself right until the very end.

Such sad news, I saw him when I was a kid on the Glass Spider Tour at Wembley stadium back in '87 and loved him ever since - a real loss
RIP

It gets even worse
Who will replace, Richards, Clapton, Beck et al, Certainly not Bonamassa.
I guess one day in about 20 years time some young spotty kid will listen to Townshend or whoever and say wow I want to do that
I cannot see much hope for the music industry until then

How does that work? I had it from 4 news agencies (subscription) but you posted it was another Fake celeb death.

Here for example of a website who posted that the death was a hoax.

http://en.mediamass.net/people/david-bowie/deathhoax.html

You can see it has now been changed. Several sites like this posted that it was another fake celebrity death. There are other celebs that have had the same type of post recently it appears.

Oh, and I posted within a few minutes that my original post was incorrect on the same post.

Making music is so much more than winning a talent completion then picking the songs you want or having an team of money men engineer success as Bowie taught us, to be successful, you have to be instrumental in every area, evolving over time to keep relevant/ahead of current trends.
