It gets even worse
Who will replace, Richards, Clapton, Beck et al, Certainly not Bonamassa.
I guess one day in about 20 years time some young spotty kid will listen to Townshend or whoever and say wow I want to do that
I cannot see much hope for the music industry until then

Don't lose hope Dave, music is always evolving it's just that as we get older, our tastes don't always follow. It's not all about X Factor & The Voice which only really exist as TV entertainment - there are kids everywhere making great music - half of the fun is finding them - and talent wins out in the end.
Ed Sheeran may not be everyone's cup of tea but who would have thought a few years ago a ginger kid, busking with an acoustic guitar would be able to sell out Wembley Stadium without a backing band or dancers.

Keep the faith my friend

Exactly, there's plenty of excellent music out there in every style, you just have to step away from the mainstream dross being churned out

Like most men of my age I grew up on Bowie, Genesis, ELP,Queen,ELO,Zeppelin etc etc

a few years back I discovered Porcupine Tree which led me to steven wilson and a number of excellent bands most people have never heard of, riverside, blackfield

I rather like Porcupine Tree.

Speed Caravan were great as well, but they only made the one album. John Grant?

Speed Caravan, not heard that one

Steven Wilson's latest album Hand Cannot Erase is brilliant, not a bad track on it, it was in the 2 for £15 offer at HMV last week

There will always be good music being made. Whether we latch onto it as we get older is another matter.
How many of these musicians are "groundbreaking"?
People like Elvis, BB King, Jackson and Bowie were game changers and others followed and developed the genre.
Bowie was trying new avenues all his career. Some I liked and some I didn't but he never rested on his laurels which he would have been entitled to do.
RIP and thank you.

Under Pressure with Queen. One of the all time great riffs for mine.

The one time I was lucky enough to see him live Under Pressure performed by Queen, David Bowie and Annie Lennox at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. Great little set he performed that day!

I would have to agree with you there John Grant is very talented his new album is as good IMO production is first class.
But i think with out Mr Bowie's influence on music along with Eno and a few others John Grant possibly would not appeared!
RIP David

I was never a massive fan but do appreciate his music and his influence. However, having been in the car most of the day where it felt like every other song on the radio was a Bowie one, I'm happy not to hear any more for some time!

I listened to it on the phone from your FB link this morning and it sounded great but listening to it via the computer sounds even better!

I find it genuinely spine tingling.

Would be great to release it as a 'proper' single as it were

I agree, very atmospheric. But a proper single with proper vocals? Surely not ;) The X factor generation wouldn't know what to do!
