New hood too and good history. Chris get it bought for a month or two! Why did you sell Doris so early?

Honestly thought I'd be in Singapore by the end of September and tried to lighten the process quickly, but things didn't work out that way. Stuff still happening over there, so not all bad.

Taken over a year to get my New Zealand residency and I've had my job since August.
Not like getting into the UK.

My mrs said if I got a red car she wouldn't get in (why didn't I get a red car).

When shopping for the 3200 some years ago I was told "Any colour but red".

We went to see an Assetto Corsa in Rosso Mondiale (aka red) and she just fell in love with it.

"But it's red" says I. "Yes, but it's a nice red" said she, and we bought it.

Go figure............

Rosso Moiale looks lovely on an AC..Best colour for me...To be honest red on a Maserati looks great but not many go for it when buying new...

It's the same with yellow Andy. Buying a yellow car is not a problem, selling one can be.

I would still like a Rosso AC as a keeper.

I often dreamed about it, but only in a nice way.

Phil, 100% agree...The 3200/3200 AC just crying out for red....That is just stunning...

Red coupes really don't work for me, too much in your face - a bit like yellow - I think the coupes should be subtle but heh what do I know the only red car I have is hardly subtle

Sounds unlikely I know, but the QP IV looks good in red. As does the Ghibli Cup.

I've only ever seen one rosso QP in the flesh and it did look bloody lovely....It was a sport GTS .....stunning.

The problem with these early spyders is that they are just not very good. Wibble-wobble, wibble-wobble jelly on a plate. You're basically paying for the badge and nice sounding engine.

At any rational level, a Merc SL (especially the 55 AMG) blows it out of the water. I bought both back in about 2003 and still have the Merc, not the Spyder.

If you want to spend mid to high teens on a convertible, there are far better cars than the Maser, I'm sad to say. But weirdly, it doesn't stop me being just a little bit tempted by this, especially if the seller will take a cheeky offer given the time of year.

Tend to agree Ewan, but if you want exclusivity, style, compactness.....then the Spyder is the one, more ooommmphhh......presence, power 55AMG is an option, bar the suspension issues and SBC brake problem

Ewan, I have to disagree with your first sentence; there isn't much difference between an early spyder and mine and it takes a well driven GranSport (360 or DBS) to keep up. Also, IMO, they don't sound that good with a standard exhaust. Sure, there is scuttle shake but I've found that it makes little or no difference across country. Ironically, I was looking at an SL 55 but bought the Maser instead and have never regretted it. As the Mrs said "the SL is a lovely car, but it's just another Merc whereas the Maser is different". Each to their own I guess and Hallelujah to that.

Have to agree with Benny, the scuttle shake mostly affected me round town and at low speeds. Out on open roads, being driven hard it's not a worry. It's one of those things you drive around, or just ignore and get on with enjoying the rest of the occasion.

When I bought a silver Spyder I had a moment thinking that if I parked in a sea of SL's it would just get lost, but she always stood out. Especially once the throttle was opened and the Italian-ness of the engine showed. I've always thought the merc engines sound impressive but too aeronautical...a good screaming Italian mistress for me anyday.
