As I'm only about to get my car Saturday morning from adgsevernoaks don't think I'll make this event but it sounds a great day enjoy all hope to be there next year.

Just called Privilege and ensured I'm covered for the day - keywords were 'Charity', 'Private event', 'Car proving ground', 'No racing/timing' and 'Event occurs once per year'.

Job done! :)

For reference, I will be bringing a box with:

Small trolley jack
Torque wrench & sockets (my wheel bolts loosened during the day last year with constant heat/cool cycles)
Can of 98 Octane unleaded. I may write 'AMG' on it... ;)
Anything else we might need?

Thanks for the heads up with this Drew. Hadn't considered the insurance angle. Called Direct Line and had the same answer as yourself.

Good idea. I'll also bring a can of 98 (suggest everyone does) and my jump pack/compressor and digital tyre pressure gauge.

All, so we need to leave the Hinkly island by 07:45 on Saturday morning so we get to our gate in plenty of time.....The brief is at 08:30 for the....The same as last year only the team leader needs t do this and take it back to the rest...This year I will go again but have asked Mark to join me as a team leader as two heads are better than one which Mark has kindly agreed to do......

Antone going straight there will really need to be at the gate for 08:30ish ready for myself and Mark to give you all a brief. If later not to worry as we can still brief you before you go on track......

Remember this is about giving passenger rides and not about racing the other cars down the back straight....Have fun, be safe and just see how much pleasure you are giving your passengers....It's very sobering....

On the phone to Admiral now: "basically, you won't be insured". FFS. Working on a more helpful response.

edit.. nope. Nothing doing. I'll need to get specialist one-day track insurance. I used Drew's magic words and they cut no ice. Naturally I now have a note on my file saying that I made the request and was kindly told no, old son, you're not covered. W@nkers.
