Brake hoses

I recently purchased some GOODRIDGE braided brake hoses for my 4200 cc. I asked Voicey to fit them when he did my annual service the other week. However he told me that he could not fit them because they had supplied hoses with banjo fittings which my car doesn't have.
So I contacted GOODRIDGE and asked them if they could supply the correct hoses for the vehicle.

I have just received a reply asking me to supply them with the original pipes so they can make a copy.

It goes without saying that now the decent weather is here I would prefer not have my car off the road for weeks whilst waiting for new brake pipes.

So on the off chance that someone on the forum has some old flexible brake pipes for a 4200cc (2004) lying around that they want to get rid of I would be happy to pay for postage and take them off your hands.

Otherwise has anyone got any alternative ideas?

There is another thread on here where someone had them made up bu Goodridge and another set with another maker.
Think it may have been Zep....
So they should have the diagrams etc......assuming same as a GS...

Hi there - I have the old ones off my GS which should be the same you are welcome to have. I ordered mine from Goodridge which fitted okay so you should be able to get ones to fit - as I recall I found a thread of here to confirm I ordered the right ones. Just checking the invoice I got them from amber performance and they state for the 4200. I remember I phoned them to check before ordering as there were problems with some being too short/ incorrect fitment which this firm had sorted out. It is all in the thread somewhere! Hope this helps!

Hi Olly

Many thanks for your offer and I may well take you up on it. But you may have seen the next post from Gp79 with the picture showing the Goodridge code (which is completely different to the one supplied to me).

If I can confirm that the GS pipes are the same dimensions as the 4200 cc and that Goodridge recognise that code, it may be a simpler and cheaper way to go without having to physically start posting brake pipes.

Once again the forum comes up trumps.

When I got mine, ok for 4200, but in theory the same , got F-Tech to fit them and the banjo bolts were too long, luckily Goodridge are based in Exeter and Tim from F-Tech went to them and got correct parts .Think there is a short length of metal pipe fitted to caliper, this needs to be removed and then banjo fittings will fit direct to caliper, then again I may be talking out of my a***.

Kind of my point really...
I’m no expert as a newbie owner but having had to remove a caliper, to get spent pads released, I can confirm my 4200 has a short hardline length of pipe between the hose & caliper. At least, offside front, this is the case....Makes removing the caliper a little more awkward than it needs to be imo....It also suggests the “ kits” are not likely to be a good fit ( edit- unless retaining oem )
I’ve done umpteen bikes. I measure and buy custom lines. It’s easier to get it right, the way you want it.
It would annoy me that a manufacturer like Goodrich, Hel, whoever, claim a like for like replacement and then can’t deliver....✌️

From the post above, the hoses I had made up by Goodridge are exactly the same as original, same length, fittings (now stainless) etc, therefore the small lengths of rigid pipe on the fronts are retained, I wanted them exactly as before with same routing so no potential to foul or chaff anywhere as well as use all original retaining points.

My car is a GS but you can confirm the same part using eurospares website. There is very little difference between GS / 4200 anyway.

A few pics of my Goodridge hoses on the front.

Cheers Greg

Thanks Greg

Have just looked on the Eurospares site and as you say coupe/spyder/ grandsport all have the same part numbers for the flexible brake pipes, which suggests that none of those models have banjo fittings.

Makes you wonder where Goodridge get their information from.

Thought they’d all be the same.

So long as you order from the information I posted they will be correct as they made a record of the spec of the lines.

Maybe a previous owner speced banjo fittings? Or a generic kit as it is a hassle to have the car off the road and post the old lines to them get copied.

Cheers Greg
