Boot CD Changer cable location

Hi

Hopefully wont be spamming up the forum with too many questions, but there are one or two things Im trying to figure out and google/forum searches havent yeilded much so far, so apologies in advance for being a newbie :)

Ive ordered a loudlink for my recently acquired 4200 (Phils old one), and while i wait for it to arrive Ive been searching out the cable in the boot. I know this car 'did' have a changer at some point, as its on the original sales invoice from new, and also Phil mentioned it himself when i bought it, but Ive been searching all around the area in the left compartment of the boot and cannot for the life of me find the cable anywhere, theres plenty of other cables in there that i dont want to fiddle with for lights, what i think is possibly the skyhook ecu box and other bits and pieces (All plugged into stuff obviously), but nothing for the changer.

Would anyone know what my next step should be please, do i need to start stripping out the boot liner or something? Ive had my hand down about as far as it will go towards the nearside rear wheelarch area and it just doesnt appear to be there :(

I was also going to ask about availability of sat nav discs later than the 2001 cd ive got at the moment, but from what ive read i may be better sticking an ugly tomtom or garmin type thing on the dash?

Any advice greatly appreciated, I got her back from painters yesterday and did some real basic stuff today like fitting new wiper blades and respraying the wiper arms and stuff, shes really coming along nicely, great little car to knock about in :)

Thanks

Si

Hi Si,
I have some satnav discs I think and later than 2001, I will try and find them and copy them if you want..??
Re the cable, I would take out the boot liner, it only takes a few minutes and it's far easier to find stuff, take the floor section out first then the rest is easy..!! The large plastic what looks like a screw in the centre of the wheel well, is not threaded, it's just one of those push in plastic fasteners..!!
Cheers

The CD cable normal can be found behind the liner, it comes into the boot in the middle and then round to the left. I fitted my Loudlink under the central console and plugged it straight into the back of the NIC, your need the loud link cable.

Sat Nav isn't worth upgrading the disc it is probably the worse Satnav I have ever seen.

The SatNav is not the best, but better than nothing if you have forgotten your TomTom and woke up in a layby somewhere and can't remember why you are there with no clothes on, or where you are..!! Some mates are rotten buggers at times..??

Ditto...forget the Sat Nav, not worth it and you'll have an accident trying to follow it.
Re Loudlink...i fitted one as CD changer very temperamental, but similarly, i plugged in to back of Centre Console....pretty simple really and works a treat.

Thanks for that, I may PM you about the discs if thats ok, Im just curious to see if the sat nav is vaguely workable, the one in my A8 was a little outdated but functioned just fine for my purposes.

Thanks for all the info on cable location guys, will hopefully get time to attack this again later on, will let you know how I get on.

Thanks
Si

Found her :)
Did as instructed and removed main boot liner around spare wheel well then unscrewed skyhook ecu from left liner and removed liner and the cable was tucked down there . I'd of never got to it without removing the liner.
Did also find a nice big puddle in the bottom of wheel well so soaked it out as best I could and have left liner out and boot open to hopefully dry it out a bit in the evening sun.

For my Next task, figure out why drivers side sun visor is so floppy when you try to use it :)

Thanks all,
Si

Contigo's thread is good for the water..!! Have you tried pushing the visor in against the visor hinge, sometimes they work loose and this can tighten them back up..??

Thanks Catman, ive ordered in the caravan silicon stuff so will look at that thread when i get some spare time to do this, sounds fun :(

The loudlink arrived today, id somehow ordered the wrong one, bluetooth not SD card version, so thats a bit gutting, even more so as i cant pair it with my iphone anyway, it comes up with a blue and green flashing led for about 10 seconds and then turns itself off before i can pair it :(

Not a **** clue how to make it work, so looks like a bit of a washout, gutted.

Send it back and get the correct one..??

Emailed him this morning, he seems less keen on that idea from what i can tell.

Just mailed him back to ask why its turning itself off before it pairs, personally i think it might be faulty, but we'll see - the powers going into it as everything else in the car has power, so I cant see why it would just turn itself off after ten seconds? The loudlink website doesnt seem to have an awful lot of info regarding this.

Got it going, was a bit painful but she's more or less working. I may have to muck about re-pairing my phone with it each time I get back in the car which seems a little daft, I'll have to read up on that.
Mounted it in the armrest , was a bit tricky getting to the back of the NIT unit to plug it in and still have to find a sensible place to run the mic to, but I'm happy with how hidden away it is, and when paired and working the sound quality is surprisingly good.

A lot run the mic cable up the back of the RH front door pillar trim and then the mic pops out of the top near the driver..??
