Thanks...given what you have said and that it needs a new wheel (that's another 1k in my book) prior to a full inspection that may thtow up some other issues like wishbones drop links and more. ..I'm not interested at anything above £16K as I think 3k repairs is optimistic.
Wheel and tyre 1k
two new rear tyres 500
May as well replace the last tyre another 200
New tech cloth insert a minimum of 500 from maserati
Full paint correction 500
Service 800
Potential new carpets as wet ones stink
New pain if scratch is unrecoverable ???
paint all wheels to ensure a match 250
1000 for faults discovered on service

it could as mentioned be a money pit at 20k

Good review...Always a reason why these cars seem cheap....and the reasons are all above.....

The wet carpets would be my main concern followed by service and lack of it.

To be fair to the car the service book is all stamped up and it has the invoice for the last service at McGraths, it is just that was in April 2013 so it is due a service next month.

Yes that is about where I saw it, maybe a little less as it will always be harder to sell on than a car with full leather.

That's a better price...and surely wouldn't cost more than 3k...maybe 4k to put right....Still under 25k once done and there doesn't seem many that are these days.

Personaly and based on the report I would not purchase it for over 16k as its the paint thats putting me off...mechanicaly it can be brought back to first class and you would never know...but paint is my pet hate.

£17,995 now. That's cheap in anybody's book.

A bid for £17.5K might just get it.

If you look at the posts a few pages back you will see the aprox cost to bring it back to a good condition...which at the moment make the overall cost about £24k...so still a little way to go yet

I don't agree on those cost necessarily. I think they are a little over estimated. It's all about whether you want a mint car or a usable, good value one. Anyway, there are plenty of mint looking cars that also require some spend making it very difficult in reality to tick every box. It's not a lot of money for a lovely car in a good colour combination and with a little TLC over time, it could be up there.

For example, my car needs it's nose repainted as it has many stone chips however I spend the money below the surface. I'd much rather that it drives as well as possible than it looks perfect. To me, it's to be used and our roads are rubbish so if I keep it looking a little rough, I don't worry about it so much. Each to their own, as they say.

appreciate what you are saying but if this was a steal then the trade would have been all over it by now...and I have spoken to the trade about the car who agree.

I'd certainly give it a go at that price if I was in the market!! You see 3200's advertised by some dealers for that. :omg:

Yes but most people have no access to cars at trade and are happy to get a beautiful machine for a keen price. Compare it to any other out there and it's cheap. The trade looks for either really good examples that can be priced accordingly or very cheap stuff to do the same. This car is in the middle and that's probably why it's still around. Yes, you should always buy the best you can but if money is a main driver and you have the patience, a car like this could be a great choice.

I have been looking for No.3 for almost 6 months and although feeling quite desperate at times on sunny weekends for another Maser, I intend to wait...sadly I see too many people plumb for a 'Bargain' and spend quite a bit on the car unexpectedly and it sours their experience. I know there are deals there for some, but regretfully I always seem to get a bum deal with 'bargains' so hence my pessimistic view of what's needed...I still believe that it worth £16k as it is today

That's totally cool. Patience is usually very worth it and I don't blame you. Anyway, everyone knows that you wait forever and then 3 show up like buses!! Hope you're ready to pounce...
