That does look lovely and doesn't seem silly money for the condition and history. I don't normally like white cars but it looks good on the Ghibli

Seen this one on Facebook in the past. I still hanker after a nice Ghibli GT, but this Ghibli wouldn’t be for me.

Am I right in thinking it’s already been bid up to £12750? I haven’t logged in, is that the reserve or the current price it’s bid to? Or more likely the ‘start price’ of a ‘no reserve’ auction. Surely that’s top whack already??

It's not a GT, it's an ABS car – so it's a five-speed manual, no 456 rear diff. Well in theory at least!

Yes absolutely agree. My original wording wasn’t clear, my ultimate would be a GT (Cup yes but different price mark), but would never rule out a none GT Ghibli if it had potential.

The MOT history makes for long and bleak reading, and it's only been on the road for 1 year in the last 17 or so. Project, is the word that springs to mind, so I'd say the asking price is very punchy.

If it all it needed to get through the MOT was for the wipers to work, surely you'd fix that, wouldn't you?

I actually went to see this and went for a sneaky test drive. Tons and tons of paperwork but it all ancient. The car is rough, does start but idles runs rough, once it gets going it’s smooth enough. Needs a new bonnet as rust got the better of it, passenger door doesn’t open from outside, interior looks much better in the pictures than in person.

Guy selling not a Maserati guy at all and doesn’t know what he has got.

When I chatted to him he was very pleasant. Just doesn’t appreciate the costs of the work involved to bring the car back to standard. A second hand bonnet in good condition (if you can find one) is £1k. Then it’s got to be painted and fitted, at which time the rest of the car paint defects could be sorted. Realistically it would be maybe a £4k blow-over repaint. With a few other jobs, let’s call it £5k on cosmetics.

Then you‘ve got to catch up on all the mechanical jobs that have been ignored over the last decade. That could be anything from a few grand to ten.

And after that you’d have a car with a massive history gap, worth maybe what you’d just spent in the recommissioning.

So his asking price is way too high. Only someone with no knowledge, and blinded by the Maserati name and good looks of the car will pay that. And then come unstuck - exactly like he has. He’s simply trying to pass on the problem car he bought a few months ago.

But it’s all do-able, and could be nice once again given the time and effort.

Unfortunately that applies to most maseratis these days. If you want to bring them to high standards (if not already there that is) its an exercise likely to cost more than market valuation. If you go into it you better be ready to stick to it and use it. Alternative is waiting for someone else who has done the job and is ready to accept a loss for whatever reason.

Not very often a Ghibli Cup hits the market these days, but this looks lovely…..

Nice pics of that very well known Cup. I was on that photo shoot, with Nayf.
In the last picture you can see my old MC-Stradale and my old MC-Victory. They are both for sale currently also.

Someone could by a most excellent and instant collection of the three most recent, sporty, limited edition Maserati road cars.
