So thinking about moving and have looked at a couple of properties around Llandeilo and just wondered if anyone here knows the area?

Llandeilo seems a really nice market town with a buzz to it. Are there many car meets in that part of the world, decent roads to explore etc.,?

Any relevant information gratefully received.

Thanks in advance,

Robin

Having been to Cardiff a number of times recently the thing that strikes me is how much you can get for your money.

One of the guys I had a meeting with recently bought a 4 bed detached property with half an acre 20 mins from Cardiff for just over 100k!!!!

Couldn't even buy a 1 bed box flat for that where I live!

My partner and I have an offer to work in Wales, but living there has never been on our radar. She hates long drives and sees a 40min drive as a long trip!
So the only real option is something in the city...but it looks run down and the docks, although under re development they are nothing like St Catherines docks in London...so we are likely to turn it down.
Although you can get a great property unless they keep up with the prices else where we would be trapped there after a couple of years.

I don't know where you get your information from, but it's B*llocks, the Bay area in Cardiff has had a huge amount of money spent on it, and is a very nice place to live, do yourselves a BIG favour and come and have a look around, you will NOT be disappointed!
Wales is a very easy country to get around, not too much traffic, as long as you avoid the summer hot spots.
Great driving roads for the Masser.

When Nicola & I were living the South East for more space and seclusion, we strongly considered that region and it is beautiful but just too remote for us plus that rain ...

The property has two good to go holiday lets (although I would update the decor/bathrooms/kitchens) and other stone outbuilding including a 2 storey barn suitable for conversion. The house has 8 bedrooms so suitable for B and B (we do B and B here in Northamptonshire with a Booking.com rating of 9.3 so know the game) a bit of land and that large barn where I could store the cars on one level unlike here and a bit of land with lovely views etc.,..

Might do a bit of classic car rental if I need more to keep me busy.

I can move there, go mortgage free (I haven't paid it off as due to the low interest rates) have a property that facilitates an income stream and hopefully have a bit of cash spare.

The property values should increase as I would update the dated decor, kitchen and bathrooms etc.,.. but if the market elsewhere moves more quickly and I wanted to have back I could always sell a car or two to fund the difference.

That my theory anyway!

I agree, I think some people have an outdated image of parts of Wales.

Llandeilo has a real buzz about it which is one of the reasons for looking around that area

I also have a cottage in Blauneau Ffestiniog (which will be sold) and the investment there in tourism in recent years is enormous!

Come home to a real fire, buy a cotttage in Wales as Not the Nine O'Clock news once said.

That said there are some lovely areas with good value properties, it is high on our retirement list.

It was from the visit last weekend and sorry to say she was not impressed.
I have driven there a few times from Clifton at rush hour...not the best time I know.
Charlies work will always take her to the worse places in a city and as its her jib that brings the money in I just follow ;0)

That does sound like an excellent plan - I like your thinking
