Believe it or not, the Spyders are marching up in price.

I was told this by a well known source about a year ago when I was looking and I must say, he was bang on.

If you have one, hold on to it I say.

Convertibles always do a lot better once cars become classics so makes sense. Need to keep the miles sensible though.

Interestingly enough I tested the water with my '54 plate Gransport (lack of use etc) and had a long conversation with a main dealer.

Car has 37k miles, FMSH, and all of the accessories apart from the Auditorium 200 system - they offered £12k to buy it and expected to shift it at £18k.

I will be holding onto it at that money.

So the '55 plate does seem a little cheeky.

Thats ridiculous, any cherished Gransport is £22k+ with those miles at retail.

It is one of the earliest examples - I've had it for 3 years. It has got tech cloth and is red (less popular) and had 4 previous owners. All the usual ailments sorted:

- control arms replaced
- alloys refurbed
- all paint defects sorted
- leaking cam cover gaskets replaced

I have bought the 550 Maranello discs and will fit them this winter along with an upgrade to the speakers. I am now of the view that next Spring my daily driver will be trident based. I can safely put decent miles on the clock and work on the basis that at some point they will turn the corner. I think the turbo ngines will help us with the normally aspirated cars, in time. Even with 50k miles on the clock it should still be worth the £12k.

Bizarre and trident tinted glass view that the valuation will encourage me to use it more.

Main dealers are now not wanting the 4200/GS, hence the low low bids. Leaving it to you Dicky!

It's just the dealers being wonkers. 37K miles isn't too much, and well kept GranSports are sought after. 12K is an insult!

Trade-ins are almost a waste of time these days. I considered selling one of my Kia's recently, it had minimal miles and was less than a year old. The dealership offered me 65% of what I paid for it, on trade-in. webuyanycar.com offered me more!!!

I've never sold a car on the cheap, I'll always hang on and get the right price for it. Never takes that long.

Odd that red is less popular.....For me its one of the best colours...And a breath of fresh air against all the blacks and silvers......

We all try our best Dem and I know your car is excellent too. Lady Stig had a slight altercation with the garage door recently on the AC, so a body touch up is now required, she is as sick as a parrot..!!
