Looks like the bas&&rd love child of an M3/M5 and a Lexus ISF. I have a massive dislike for obscure exhaust pipe angles.

I'm also not a fan of over-design. I prefer purity of shape. It seems a little try hard to me.

Having said that, it will probably grow on me!

Matt I think that list is justt the 4 door salon sales figures ..Fat Americans like their Pickup trucks so they can pretend to be an urban cowboy while eaking a 2kg burger with a gallon of fizzy sugar water.

Correct, posting the pickups was just too depressing so I didn't.

When I was in NY at Xmas I saw Toyota Camrys everywhere - most of the yellow cabs were Camrys, so I'd imagine that would partly explain why they outsell everything. Given American sedans are generally so ****, it's no great surprise they turn to the Japanese alternatives - whilst exceptionally bland, they are better than a Chevrolet equivalent!

Most Americans don't even have a passport so how on earth can we expect them to be cultured growing up of fast food, **** TV, and contry and western music... and most of their tech is stolen from us!

The thing that I really miss on the new car is not having the back door handle intergrated into the window!

The whole launch reminded me of the Simpsons episode where Homer designs a car for the average American; The Homer.
No-one was allowed to see the car before launch (similarity?) and when it was revealed it was predictably awful.

OK maybe I am being unkind, but after all the fanfare, hype, hyperbole and showbiz razzmatazz, to reveal something as ordinary, even ugly, as the Home...I mean Giulia I am bound to draw such parallels.

Shape and overall design still not growing on me.

But if the driving dynamics, sound and 0-100 is impressive, then it just might redeem itself.

As for the Brera, even though it was a departure from the concept, the production version just about knocked me on my *** it was that beautiful.

Nothing Alfa has done since that time (8c excluded) has impressed for me.

same here......

You know its a good design idea / detail when the other manufacturers copy the idea a few years later. Something else that was dropped from the 156 on the 159 to suit the American market. If they keep chipping away at the Alfa soul then we will end up with little Alfa dna left.

If Alfa want to make an American mass production car. Make a pick up truck call it the F150 and give it a plastic tacky interior. Base it on a Chrysler truck to cut down on development costs. The number sold by accident would be enough to develop the next generation of true Alfa styled cars.

Oh well, roll on the Giulia 2020 facelift!

I think the rear drive Giulietta replacement could be the sweet spot - that will be 2017, just time to change mine. A QV version of that would be fun, but I suspect limited to the 4 cylinder 300bhp engine they are mooting.

The Giulietta is a nice looking car, if the supe'd it up, I would be interested.

Had a Giulietta as a hire car a few years ago, fun all round and managed to surprise in a good way. Great looking little car. Not keen on the giulia so far, but sounds good in that video.
