Why was it going to be a waste? Just interested - Seeing an IFA in a couple of weeks
Eb

At my age (bus pass territory) not long enough to invest, low returns just now and concerns over what government might do in way of rule changes for those retiring meant adviser felt he couldn't recommend putting any more in.
There is/was a possibility for tax relief it "may" have been worth it but again the great unknown of what my tax situation would be on retiral and what rules were in place meant I decided to buy classic vehicles instead. Well that was my justification for buying them!!

How do you get the pension firms to release details of your pot/funds? I've been waiting 3 months now since asking.
You would normally get an annual statement from the pensions company that gives the details of amount paid in by you. Amount paid by employer if its a company scheme. Total pension pot to date and projected final pension.

I can login to my aviva one on line and get all that info. And I can even swap what funds I want my pension investing in.

Read bits of this but I'm going to look into a lifetime ISA. However you spin it you can't sniff at 25% interest till you're 50, better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick

Doesn't seem to matter what I have....it is what I can afford. They don't seem to think I can afford the mortgage I have been paying more for over the last 2 years.

I need some advice.

I dont earn a lot and obviously i realise that once i retire im up ***** creek as ill be earning only a state pension.

Never dawned on me before until i met with an old friend and they were telling me they could retire at 55 (they are 37 now) and earn a healthy 30k.

Have no idea about how it works etc and would like to know if theres any advice you can give me besides seeing a financial advisor.

Very depressing stuff online, if i pay £200 per month my pension will be £170 pm at 60 years old!! **** that

Any advice??

Come to Greece. You will definately get a good pension.. laughing out loud of course :)
