I can't see regular 4200's overtaking (in value) GTS cars. But certainly GS and GTS prices will merge. Well, the MC-Victory version of the GS has already overtaken the early GTS models.

All depends on where the GTS bottoms & what upside the GS has. Facelift 4200's will follow the GS certainly but nobody knows what the tightness will be. It wouldn't surprise me if GTS's hit a 30k bottom and a nice low miles top facelift 4200 will easily be 30k so yes the values will certainly merge IMHO.

What I find strange about this whole conversation (GTS vs GS) is that we are comparing values of a car that is bring used with one that is not. We all know that with a (semi) exotic car if you keep it well maintained and watch the miles then it will eventually rise in value. However lots of you are getting to the stage where you are more interested in your Maserati going up in value that actually using it which is so sad.

My GTS will never become valuable as it has nearly done 40k miles and by the time the new one arrives in 2020 it will be on nearly 70k miles. Hits the value but it's a Maserati and I enjoy driving it! Surely that's the point?

People buy these cars for their own reasons. I wont use mine everyday because we have three other cars and one of them is a weekend toy also. But for some these make good everyday drivers cars and that's their choice.

Why facelift? In say 10 years time it won't make any difference whether classico or facelift, for the choice will be down to condition.
If you want a biturbo or Ghibli today, you aren't concerned over minor improvements between model years, just whether it's in good condition and not a rot box!
Regarding when I bought my Stag 30 years ago, the preference was the mark 2 over the mark 1, today, it makes no difference in the market place.

Fair enough...makes sense. As you say way down the line in 20-30 years I guess. I prefer the facelift over earlier cars for various reasons. If I had a choice in 20-30 years time it would be the facelift.

Mine's not a daily driver - have four cars - but it's used enough to not be a candidate for a 'value lock away' in a decade's time.

If like me, then in 20-30 years it won't just be the car that needs a face lift!!!

If all goes well in the coming couple of years I might be buying a 'facelift' Strad on the back of more conventional face lifts... I will just have to tell my wife its the same car just a different colour..

I agree with you Bob.
It would have to be some serious XS cash burning a hole. And I cant see that happening with Current House / Family!
I was just watching the clip Phil Posted and itching to get out in it again.
Unfortunately this morning there was frost everywhere and there was a choice of warm comfy SUV or Getting the GTS out of the garage - and inevitably having to crawl around corners to work.
How do others handle the choice? I really feel like I want to drive it more - especially in Winter.

I've had mine over five years and fit winter tyres for 4 months of the year, however, I often just take my Disco as it can be quicker over certain roads if they are slippy. My Maser has not been out in two weeks.

Today was definitely a day when I was glad I'd stuck winter tyres on mine... at 7am this morning the frost was hard and slippy, so my drive to work would have been nerve wracking if the car was still on the normal P Zero's. As it was, with the ICE button pressed and the winter tyres it felt perfectly sure footed (not that I was pushing too hard mind you)...
