Oh lots, might as well scrap it.....
According to Eurospares, depending on the key type you have, at most £136 per key plus VAT
Then programming cost at dealer/indie.
You might need the red credit card with the key info too.
So not the end of the world!

You'll get the red card with the new key, at least the old one.

Of course if you've lost *all* of them, it may be a bit different, but maybe not. As long as you have a red card and can prove ownership you're back on the £136 plus coding.

the Classic keys are (were) cheaper. £84 for mine if memory serves.

Of course, if it's a new ECU and lock set then that *will* be expensive.

Your best bet if your worried is to wire up a hidden switch to turn the fuel pump on & off, simple and won't cost a lot

Insurance companies usually cover lost keys but if its oy the £136 plus programming then I would not involve them.

You might be able to start it when you get the new key using the emergency code, but it's going to be a week or so.

I'm not familiar with the "emergency code" either, but I did have a second key made.
From dropping the car off to pick up, it was done in a day. Mind you I did book the appt. a few days before.
I didn't have the red card, but I did get a new red card after.

Oh...and another reason for me to move to the UK...a new key programmed was $495 (290 Pounds??).

There are two types of key:

Classic is black, single button on the edge. No remote boot.
Johhny-come-lately is blue, two buttons on the face, and remote boot release.

They key needs to be ordered from Maserati.

(All from memory, but pretty sure it's right. It's all in the manual)
The red card contains the mechnical details for the blade of the key, so a key from another car won't turn your locks.
You *should* have a silver card which has the emergency immobiliser bypass process.
In theory you could get your new key, unlock the car with it and then unlock the steering. Go through the emergency bypass and start and drive it to the dealer (although your alarm will be going off I suspect)

The dealer can then code the new immobiliser transponder chip to the car's ECU.

I wonder how they will make it work the central locking as that's normally done by putting the alarm into learning mode by using the existing key....

Check all main dealers to see if they have any blanks. You could arrange carrier to get the docks and keys moved between you and the garage.

I'm sure I have literature with my car saying the "emergency" bypass card was withheld for UK market, but was available via dealer. I shall go and check. I have 3 keys and red card with mine, I am sure that is all you got at the time.

The 3200 was different with a red key, as well as the two black keys.
The 4200 just has two black keys (or blue if later model) and the red bypass card and code info card, from new.
