Regardless of make you need to have very good reasons from moving away from a factory specified tyre size. All the suspension & chassis testing by the manufacturer would have been done on the specified tyre size. Not saying that alternatives are possible but unless you have the technical understanding of the changes and potential impact of those changes leave well alone.

There was an freelance suspension expert just up the road who did lots of consultancy work for manufacturers who used to setup Alfas, including Prodrives Brera S, and although he would make changes to spring rates, dampers, geometry etc. he would rarely change wheel or tyre sizes due to the knock on work it would create.

You cheap skate . What other corners have you cut on your car ?

Cost isn't a factor i am and have been very satisfied with Jinyu tyres.

There nice and comfy, quiet, and the soft sidewall is perfect for auto-x.
They meet my needs.

I only do autocross & cruising at speeds of 100kph up to 140kph on very short stretches.

Lots of speedcams here.

I agree that it changed the dynamics but that sounds a bit more then I expected..

I went with the oem size for the rear,
It was the accellera tyres that the previous owner put.. accellera 265 are in no way 265.

The new set i got looks perfect.
Comfort
Quietness
Grip

Rides like a Lexus even at wot

Its your car so do what you want.

I guess like most I am not convinced of the reasoning for the choice of rubber but know I would not have it on mine or expect to see it on a potential purchase.

Jinju....never heard of them....of the are 50 quid for fronts you have the wrong car. I wouldn't put them on my mower.

Tyres are so important IMHO & I wouldn't put my life in the hands of anything other than a decent branded tyre either mid-range or premium.

I'm not made of money & am cost effective where ever I can be. I have used second hand oem parts on cars often and used cheaper stuff sometimes on things but tyres & anything that important.....no...never. I value my life & my wife & kids value that I value my life as well. I can't always do much about others choices but I'm 100% in control of mine.

I would shy away from different tyres on different axles if I could help it & also wouldn't use non manufacturer tyre sizes for no good reason. Just replace all 4 on the Alfa & all 4 on the QP with the same tyre. That being said the 4200 has PZero Rosso on the front & new SuperSports on the back but I didn't like the PZero so the fronts will be changed for SuperSports when due.

I had Nexen's that came on the project 4200 when I bought it & all though they weren't terrible the difference compared to PZero Rosso's & SuperSports is night & day.

What is the idea behind a different size to oem?

I don't blame anyone for being sceptical,
Me myself being brand conscious.

But after a ton of reaserch of every tyre these had the best reviews.
So i decided to give them a try.

I'd dare you to try them the but these aren't super sticky semi-slicks & don't do well in the wet.
Not suitable for spirited driving in the twisties bacaus of there soft sidewall.

But if only for highway cruising & occasional pulls
the comfort & grip won't let you down.

The soft sidewall is perfect for auto-x
Faster time than a Cayman on cold pzeros.

It's the rear tyres I had accellera on them they looked stretched inspite being oem size.

Jinyu now all around
better then any mid range tyre according to the internet
Stock size.

I hate pzeros had them on my 430 before I sold it.. hated the car too!

That there ^^^ is exactly why those tyres shouldn't be on a Maserati.

excuse me...is it a hyundai forum here?? Or someone is trying to promote something?
Of course tyre choice is a personal decision but if a car with cheap tyres loses grip and ends on a pedestrian, then it is not that personal.

Brilliant. The car never goes out in the rain/wet though & I don't think they are the best in the wet. Suited me perfect as I was looking for the best dry performance I could get money no object & the SuperSports certainly fit that Bill.

I agree with that assessment, supersports are a cracking tyre, not good with standing water..

I tend to stick to the sizes in the handbook. I base this on the fact that the manufacturer knows more about tyres than I do ;

That's what they want you to think. Tyre companies often get the contract to supply tyres because they give the best prices to the car maker. They can afford to do it because they know gullible, anal, unknowing or loaded types will just replace like with like, time after time. You couldn't pay me to put Pirelli's on mine.

Don't forget 3rd party commission.
Michelin, bridgstone, pirreli etc. Try outbiding them.

Hyundai uses Kumho and Jinyu as OEM tyres. If they use it on the genesis brand those tyres are gonna good marketing.

EVO do regular tyre tests. The big three of Pirelli, Michelin and Continental are invariably at the top. Companies like Nexus at the bottom. I've never even heard of the rubber band outfit the OP mentions, and they don't appear in the tests. Probably for the good reason that they are not designed for use on EVO type cars (inc Maserati's).

I have P Zerro Rosso on my dry, summer-use-only Maser. Michelin Sport 4 on the other two (but a set of winters on the GT-S at the moment).

10th place overall due to weaker performance in the wet. Luckily It never rains in the middle east.

Not the best tyre in the dry either but the balance of grip & comfort is amazing.

What I love most is it's comfort & silent ride. grippy too, perfect balance for a gt car.
