And what about the 3200 AC's...............there was only a few hundred of these old classics ever made??????? What are they selling for up there in UK?

Cheers
T
Last two were advertised at £22k and £24.5k, both sold within days, but not sure how close to the asking prices.

Yes, get her back in good health :) I've just got mine back from some cosmetic paintworks. Few other wee bits and bobs to take care of soon.

Well, here is my twopenethworth.

The 3200's are fragile yes, but you cannot deny the car is the first stage of the rebirth.

It was massively over powered for the chassis which makes it fun.

The fragility shortcomings means most are now gone as scrapping them for parts makes more economical sense than to repair them....well, in the eyes of the commercial sector anyway.

This in turn means only the strongest survive and yes as stocks dwindle each year, the remaining examples will rise in value.

Simple supply and demand, with the AC commanding the strongest of values.

£24,100 with 56 bids. That's remarkable... I'm sure some forum sellers could take a leaf out of this Marketing Guru's book.
I know I get more cynical as I get older but that sort of 'frenzy' for an (IMO) un-remarkable car is strange.
Let's see if it re-surfaces somewhere down the line, because I seem to remember it being advertised a few months ago. Registered owner change 3 months ago. The mysterious world of ebay.

25k miles is very low, most have double or triple that. maybe that's the reason that it sold well.
On the other hand, it is an automatic, which (in my opinion) sells for a bit less than the manual. At least, that is what prices asked on the continent show...

That car sold for £24K So it's a message to us all. Look after your cars and get an old car for day to day driving to tesco etc.

I was told that Automatics are worth more than Manuals

funny how things change. When I had a 911 (1984 3.2 carrera cab) everyone wanted the coupe, better handling. Nobody loved the Targa model, big rear window spoils the profile. Now they are selling for much more than either cab or coupe.

Manual vs Auto tends to swing in popularity

Nice thought re gta over gt, but I doubt that very much, petrol heads generally prefer old school manual. I've always said, the 32 if taken care of and you are interested in return (which I'm not) will come good.......even more so when the USA 25 rule comes up in 2023.

A good 3200 is a good 3200 regardless of the transmission. There aren't many very good ones left so regardless of the transmission preference, if it is a genuinely good one then it will be worth having & a very rewarding car to own

Oh I'm not putting down the auto Stuart, no surprise there ;), I love it but I accept that generally speaking PH drivers prefer manual. Agree re overall quality/condition will out in the end, no matter the box.

Not at all Greg, don't get me wrong - my AC was a manual and I preferred it to the auto which I also drove prior to buying, despite the workout the clutch pedal gave my left leg every time I drove it! I just think that there are so few decent 3200s left, you need to be open minded when the right car for you becomes available

The problem with the 3200 and 4200 manual (speaking from owning both) is that there is a very long disconnect of transmission and power between gear changes and this really takes a lot of the pleasure away from the driving and as such it is quite hard to drive the 3200 manuals quickly on track etc. there is a long throw on the changes and it just seems to disconnect the car for too long. The auto 3200 is much easier to drive quickly around town thanks to it's longer gearing etc.... The CC on the 4200 is definitely the pick of the boxes.

I also drove a manual and auto AC prior to buying mine. I went for manual as I thought in my mind an AC should be manual. They both drove very well, the auto was the better car in town, but I didn't buy it to drive in town. :)
