I think it's cheap too but I have done 95,000 miles in it so it's never going to be classed as a "perfect" example no matter how nice it is, a lot of people expect these cars to be used only for high days and holidays and recoil in fear if they have done anything like a "real world" mileage no matter how good they are, to be honest I threw money at this one like confetti at a wedding but it really doesn't make much difference when you come to sell it. Anyway I have my XJ now and it's an amazing car so I will use the 3200 even less now so there is not much point in keeping it, if it doesn't go I will just put it in storage until my interest in it picks up or my son gets it in my will.

Good luck with the sale Chris, I think with the maintenance programme & condition of your vehicle, some lucky person is going to get a very nice car

I would buy it in a heartbeat if it were an Auto, keep it forever! Just a personal thing but I'm not a fan of manual 3200's. I'm sure it's a stunning car if it's been maintained as you say and I love Rosso Corsa on an AC. Only AC for sale in the country too.

Well to be honest I am wavering, I just took delivery of a new XJ and it is probably near to perfection but on a trip to Essen last week it was so perfect it was almost boring, 150 mph felt like 70, although the upside was that I knew it would get me there without any chance of a breakdown. As XJ's are not that common in Germany it did get just as many admiring glances as the 3200 did on the same trip last year. If the 3200 does not go in the next week or so I may well put it in maintained storeage whilst I get some use out of the XJ, there is not much more that can be replaced on it and it owes me nothing now so keep or sell it does not make much difference.

As an aside the trip to Essen was to the Techno Classic event (I go every year), if ever you want to go to a car show this is the one, everything from a 7,000 euro Alfa Spyder to a 1,000,000 euro Alfa Tipo 33 for sale and you can look and touch as much as you wish, I lost count of the number of 300SL gullwings after the 14th one for sale. The only better collection of cars I have ever seen in one place is at the Schlumpf museum in France where they have 3 Bugatti Royals and a Veyron although obviously nothing is for sale.

I know what you mean Chris,I had an XJ on loan last year,it was almost too good...
My old 3200GT manual on the other hand is from another planet, old school tech and not easy to drive quickly.

But the sense of occasion I get when I give it a thrash once in a while is unforgettable..

Hello guys, i would have bought it if only the new goverment had mantained promises to remove registration tax, today to register you have to pay 13500 euro and 1471 license per year, i saw it on PH, 95000 miles are alot but not too much.

It was till 1967 but Malta was not a UK state, Malta is one of the EU states but unfortunatly the free movement of goods and people applies only for the big states like Italy , Germany France etc..., we have to pay registration tax, all european members defenitly dont like Maserati and these kind of cars, all the laws are against us, pollution and all the rest, they will put taxes on euro 1,2,3 and very soon euro 4, you will see, plus taxes on lenght of the veichle, they want us to drive some japan rice burner or some Eco car that does 100 miles with one litre.

Update....the car is no longer for sale, I had a couple of people come to view it but for one reason or another it was not the car for them and to be honest I can understand some people being wary of high mileage cars. I don't really need to sell the car and the money it would have realized is pretty insignificant, it was more a case of it sitting unused most of the time. So with the blessing of my wife I am going to keep it until my licence expires or the taxman really gives me a hard time. Its a strange thing but I have put it up for sale twice now and each time I have been relieved to have found a reason to keep it so I guess, even though I don't realize it myself, deep down I really can't bear the thought of parting with it.

Glad you are not selling as it will give time to get the pennies for when you put her up again....

Good decision Chris; if that's how you feel now, imagine how you would have felt if you had sold it. There are a couple of cars I really regret selling and always keep an eye out in case they came back on the market. One was a late '70s Lancia though so I would imagine the poor old girl has rusted away by now
