Somehow I think the teams will manage - I can't see them popping down to the Esso in Arnage for a top up.

:D

ROFL!!!!

Us of cancelling a Le Mans pre-meet for a bit of rain! Do you really think we are going to let a fuel shortage stop the main event? :D

I for one am taking the 4.7 Gas Guzzler down there fuel or not. I'm ordering at least one of those Jerry cans off Ebay and filling the ****** up in Dover along with Brimming the tank. It will be fine guys, where's your sense of adventure?

My sentiments precisely. What's wrong with getting stuck at Le Bois for few days? I can think of worse places to be.

Response from Wayne in Pontvillain:

Dear Matt,

These strikes don't usually last so long. We have been able to find petrol in Le Lude so really this has not been a problem. There is a station in Requeil also. The highway stations are more expensive but often are the last to run out if ever. We will follow things here but we don't stock petrol above our usual supply in the work shed of 20 liters. If you bring cans you can store them in our shed. I do suggest that you take petrol in Ecommoy Hyper U or Arnage Super U when you arrive or before you leave the toll road. I think the last station is Alencon on the A28.

Matt, the only thing I'd say about Wayne's comment is that this isn't a 'normal' strike. It's about massive changes to employment law and conditions - the SNCF are striking, the workers at the nuclear power plants are striking, the air traffic control people are striking (tomorrow), and the refineries are blockaded. It's a bit more widespread than just one group of disgruntled people from a single sector, which is the usual form.

I really hope it's fixed soon, as I need to do a return trip to Geneva to collect a load of stuff I want in the UK - I can fly to/from obviously, but that's not really going to work for me. Right now I'm not even considering it - since it's a holiday week next week, there's no chance of them stopping now before inflicting a load of widely reported damage.

Chris B on Facebook.

"Landed in a France with no fuel...my hire car had half a tank and they had no more to put in. They wished me luck.
30 minutes to get out of the airport due to a picket outside complete with a pile of burning tyres and lots and lots of bored policemen waiting for something (anything) to give them cause to stop being bored.
Cars and trucks abandoned at the side of the road and the only petrol station that was open had a half mile queue to get in. They aren't messing about. Hope it's over before Le Mans."

40L in the boot it is then, it's enough to get there, I'll worry about the finding fuel when I am down there.

FYI, P&O only allow 5 litres and the others generally 10l. If fuel is that short I'll be coming in the naggers diseasel. If I fill the car and Jerry can in Belgium, it should get me home.

Just been reading a thread on Pistonheads which has contributions from people living in France. General view seems to be the filling stations on the AutoRoute are fine; it's the local towns that have most of the issues.

Still one to keep an eye on and invest in a jerry can before they sell out.

I'll be hiding mine and taking the Mas. In fact I'll put one inside a suitcase on the back seat .

Hoping to join you guys on the adventure, I'll be joining Mr Outrun in his car and helping him max out his luggage space. This will be my first trip to Le Mans and very much looking forward to it. I'm a slightly older fat man with a Scottish accent, just hope I don't cramp everyone's style.
