I had a smell in the cabin when I purchased the car. It turned out to be leaks at the cam cover gaskets in a couple of spark plugs wells, no other leaks in other areas. They found it putting an endoscope after removing the plugs. No smell after the gasket was replaced.

Mine was gone but my pads were also in quite a bad shape... I have never ever seen pads in such a bad shape to tell the truth. They fell apart while uninstalling them, I guess that's why my sensor was gone too.
