WRT No 5 ( inside rider). That is the law here in Denmark. If you are turning right across the cycle lane and a cyclist is going straight on. You’re fooked. That also counts on roundabouts. So if you’re turning off and a cyclist is going straight on, you stop on the roundabout and give way.
on the other issue regarding space. I always thought it was pass affording the same distance as passing another vehicle. I got hit by a driver on my **** and elbow as he. Passed me. There was no oncoming traffic.
I chased hard for about 2 miles through a 30 zone but couldn’t catch him. But, I spotted his car parked in the car park in the plant next to ours. And for good reason the tale ends there……

As bicycles were on the road before cars does that mean horse riders also have to take a proficiency test as they were on the road before bicycles.

Originally (I believe) as the motor vehicle came after animal or self propelled vehicles, they were the ones who have to look out for others.
Hence the need for them to have insurance.

Just because a large number of motorists don't like cyclists, doesn't make them automatically right, or indeed have the right of way.

By the way, most cycle lanes (for whatever reason!) are also footpaths, and therefore shared with pedestrians, with small children, and dogs on leads.
In other words very dangerous places for both cyclist and pedestrian. It's safer all round for cyclists to use the road.
I forgot to add earlier that cyclists should also have number plates for identification, in addition to insurance. I didn’t realise that in some parts of the country cycle paths were legally shared with pedestrians, children and dogs on leads, that’s wrong. So, they are not really cycle paths, they are basically pavement that cyclists can use. That’s even more reason for cyclists to have insurance and number plates.

Has to be a valid point Scaf; when they are filtering in traffic, knocking wing mirrors, I feel they give up that right. Even more so when ignoring pedestrian crossings, traffic lights and the like.

Isn't a major point s
also being missed by the govt on this too. Emissions?

Surely all this stop/start, accelerate hard, brake, lack of flow of traffic is going to increase emissions?

Don't motorbikes do the same thing? You don't see as much hate towards them. Why is that?

Because they don't often ride around in packs blocking all the traffic behind them. Also, they are insured and pay road tax.

To be clear, I don't think all car drivers hate all cyclists. But it's very easy for a minority of cyclists who use the roads selfishly to give all cyclists a bad name.

I suspect (although I have no evidence) that a higher percentage of motorcyclists are also car users than cyclists are car users.

The amusing thing really is that all car drivers are pedestrians at some point and therefore it really must boil down to a personal definition of 'being a dick'

As Crud says but more so, motorbikes don’t jump lights as if they are not there, the also observe pedestrian crossings etc. Yes they filter and I have had my wing mirrors clipped on occasions, when the have, they have apologised or at vey least acknowledged they have misjudged the gap. It is just a sort of arrogance that takes over cyclists particularly in the city. I appreciate that is a broad and sweeping statement but it is a constant in the city.

TBTH some bikers do jump reds and crossings. I didn't except in error. And I also have had my mirrors clipped by bikers that did not acknowledge it, but I also know it's possible to clip a mirror with a bar end and not be aware.

Most cyclists are also insured. No one pays road tax. It's an emissions tax now.

Having your cycle insured for theft is not the same as being insured to cover damage or injury to others - a quick Google states less than 50% are insured and most of that is just cover for the bike.
