I think it was mentioned as an audience comparison during Olympic coverage - Rod Stewart ? No idea how many though.

Simon and Garfunkel *were* the largest in 1981 with the concert in central park. Live Aid was *way* more. The only scot I can think of there was Midge Ure, but never really know him to comment on his Jockitude.

He shoots he scores. Rodders played a free New Year gig at Copacabana Beach '94 to an estimated 3.5 million. Imagine the state of the port-a-loo.

Over to Caldy999.

Simple Minds also played but, and I agree about Midge Ure, Jim Kerr isn't full of unwarranted Jockery.

If its what i think it is then it has something to do with liverpool but i thought its name was wet nelly.

I suspect the question is about something different than the "Wet Nelly" from Liverpool, which is a form of pudding - kind of half way between a soggy fruit cake and a bread pudding /spotted dick...

Someone else better set a question as we are off to the wilds of deepest darkest Cheshire later and WiFi coverage may be sketchy
