Crikey what mileage is yours on ? a mate from my college days has just bought one (well his dad has), i went with him to look at the car he has just bought; he was praying at the dealer it didn't have a cracked subframe although it does have rust on the rear arch and A-pillar, i personally would not have bought it. It is an 04 with 67k miles.

The toy i have in mind for next year is an E36 328i Sport.

Nice choice Adam I still have my 95 E36 3.0 M3 which I used on the last forum track day doing 90 miles on track and drove her there and back cheap as chips fun.

A colleague who works with my dad purchased a red 3.0 last year and is gradually adding bits here and there for track use; i had never experienced an E36 before and it blew me away how quick it was, still feels very very rapid.

I was all for an M3 until i went in a 328 on Friday at Anglesey, usual modifications but what transformed the car the final drive was shorter so the car's top speed was 130, 3rd topped at 80 whereas the M3 tops out in 3rd at 110 ? For how much a 328 would cost to build to my ideal specification (see below) a decent M3 is from 4k and i could build a 328 for around 5.5k.

M3 evo LSD
Coilovers incl' drop links, bushes etc.... (probably HSD Coilovers)
E46 Compact steering rack
Exhaust
Induction
M50 Manifold
Seats + Harness
Cage
Steering wheel
M3 Cab X brace
M3 Evo calipers and discs
Upgraded pads + fluid
M3 Staggered or Team Dynamics 1.2 Alloys + Tyres

Mine i red too needs a paint job but totally trust free and I only paid 100s for it mate. I have to say I was quite impressed with her as a standard road car with 140 k on the clock.

The 360 for me is an awesome car and she sounds so good with a Noulavari titanium system. Taking her out on the next track day boys. It was all Franks fault for taking me to LeMans in his 360.

He has a lot to answer for. He still has half of my clutch inside his 360s vents!

It has a 109k on the clock Adam...A known problem when the get to 90/100k by all accounts......Sub frame is a worry but if under 10 years old you can get the repair done free by a BMW dealer.......Other wise could codt up to 2k to put right..

Thought i would update this thread. Still browsing on here of course but i should post a lot more often. Well i have a new (to me) car arriving on Friday. Renault Clio 197 Cup. I can't wait.

pics from the dealers website......

So before anyone asks....... why the Clio. Well...........

I narrowed my choices to the following....Corsa VXR, Civic Type R (breadvan shape), Clio 197 and Focus ST. Test drove all of them and the Corsa was by far the worst; i don't know what Vauxhall did but it felt like a 1.2 Corsa with a load of torque; the handling felt so sloppy. The Focus i liked an awful lot especially that engine note....5 cylinder turbo i couldn't help but think of Group B but with an average consumption of 22mpg i would be broke. Civic was good fun but ultimately i fancied something a bit newer and as an overall design i think it has dated quite badly. So that left me with the Clio; my car is a Cup which consists of a 20kg weight saving (mine doesn't have A/C), 7mm lower ride height, stiffer springs (27% front and 30% rear) and 10% stiffer dampers. On the test drive it felt so alert and chuckable on the twisty A roads within 2 minutes i knew this was the car for me. The engine is superb, very eager to rev and the gearbox is so precise i can understand why so many people rate the Clio as the class leading car. So..... all i have to do now is wait another 2 days and she's all mine. The Punto will be up for sale within the next 10 days so if anyone on here wants a cheap runabout, let me know.
