Indeed...some replicas when done to a high "original" spec and properly engineered, set up correctly, have in their own right a high intrinsic value....using an MR 2 's under pinnings and fibre glass body of poor quality.....is not even a replica as it just looks like one

In the cases you've provided there Phil, I think it's great that they're made like that, because it would be a crying shame for people to use any remaining real ones to play on tracks with. I watched a few episodes of GT Racer (or similarly titled program,) and I just found it uncomfortable to watch, this unease was made worse every time I saw these vehicles get damaged, and they were (as far as I know) all real versions.

The MR2 Ferrari... I just don't know really, the real thing can be picked up for not much more than it costs to create the replica, I just don't see the point of those myself. But it is like you say Phil, a totally personal choice and this is why there is such a strong kit-car business in this country. :)

Many of the lucky folk who have original cars maintain that they were meant to be driven hard and it's almost sacrilege not to, so 250's and the like still see a lot of action. However, I know of an original Stratos that was locked away as a ‘pension fund' for many years and few even knew of its existence let alone saw it on the road or track, so as much as I don't like to see original cars damaged I think the latter scenario is equally a shame. Luckily, aj, I won't have that dilemma, especially as Camelot failed me again this week.
