Windscreen for GTS ?

I have a crack in my windscreen and have been waiting for the glass to be shipped from Germany. It was due to be fitted today but they have cancelled as the glass has still not arrived (been waiting nearly three weeks!)

Surely this glass is available in the UK ?

This is going through my insurance company (RAC) who use Auto Windscreens.

Anyone know if anyone stock a front screen for a 2010 GTS

There are a couple of threads about this as I had to change one last year. There were plenty of discussions about OE and non OE glass too plus the relative competence of the fitters.
I had no problems at the time getting the glass but I was through Auto Glass. As it is insurance, I think you will just have to wait as they will probably only want to purchase their screen through the normal supply channels.

When it comes to fitting it, make sure you are there and check it thoroughly, you are in your rights to reject the screen they bring which I did as it has started to delaminate in one of the corners

Thanks - I guessed as much
Its just a pain as I leave for my road trip to Italy next week and was hoping to have it done by then.
I have kicked up a stink this morning with both the glass people and my insurance.

I was talking to doohickey Saturday, he insisted his GT screen was replaced at the main dealer and the insurance agreed

In my experience, main dealers in turn sub it out to local windscreen fitters as they have virtually zero experience of fitting screens so you're back to square one

The saga continues - HR Owen have them in the shelf so I am getting very frustrated- trying to speak to anyone who actually works for RAC ( they sub everyone out - even customers service)

That's true, better than waiting for it to come from Germany.

How bad is the crack, could you live with it on your Euro trip?

The crack is ok and I could live with it (not within my line of sight) but it could change direction and become a bit of a pain, it already looks ****.
The insurance say I can use my own supplier but then cap the payout to far below the cost of a new OEM screen so although I will keep the pressure on I will have to suck it up and stick with them.
The worst thing is not being a key o speak to a sensible person without going through various menues and options and pressing 1,2,3 etc etc even when you speak to someone they put you though to another series of menus or you get cut off.

I did insist on getting the MD to do it, I'm pretty sure JCT did it themselves. The insurer was Axa and they were fine about it; the only hassle was that they decided they wanted an engineer's inspection which they eventually did by email but it delayed picking the car up by 24 hours. I paid £75 but the total bill was nearly £1800.

Must say I was surprised to see Pilkington is showing on all my windows. I had expected an Italian maker
