Why do people put wooden steering wheels on Masers (North America excepted)?

Throw back to the Bi turbos..Most had them........Don't think it looks bad...Would suite a QP more than a GT though...

Richard will concur that I was looking for one WITHOUT a wooden wheel but circumstances conspired against me. They are sweaty and uncomfortable on long journeys and positively dangerously slippy when you get into the car with wet hand from a rain-soaked door handle.

The best steering wheel I had on a car was an aftermarket Momo jobby the previous owner had put on a Lancia. It looked a bit boy-racer naff but it really did the job beautifully: superbly comfortable.

Same with the CF wheel on mine, but at least it won't wear like the alcantara wheel and it was a perfect excuse to buy some driving gloves :D

I had a CF wheel on my GTS and got on fine with it.
Although after peering through the window of the car still sat on the forecourt at Meridian they appear to have swapped it for a standard leather one.

Wish I'd done that before pxing it and got a few quid for it, if memory serves it was a £2k option!
(That may well be b0ll0x)

I've a wooden wheel for my 4200 I havent fitted yet, bought at a good price, never fitted, brand new.
It's a lovely thing for sure, the reason why I bought it was that I feel the standard black wheel to be a little bland, and skinny, the wooden one is a bit more chunky on the rim thickness.
I think the wooden wheel on Maserati's to be a bit traditional more than anything else.
Saying that I would love a carbon fibre one, but mega money, but I bet the list price for the wooden wheel was not cheap either!

All personal preference I guess.

Not a fan myself, but hey, owner's car, owner's rules. All Good.

Quite like the look of the CF steering wheel on a QP I saw.

IMO, Set the whole cabin off nicely and added to that "premium" feel.
