Hmmm...I wonder how much this is influenced by both ex Italians living in these areas and from days when Europe tried to take over the world and spread the influence of their culture etc.

I'm sure there may well be an element of that Safrane. Personally though, I am not adverse to an indigenous or long established society being enriched by the influx of outside cultures per se. I was born in India and came to the UK at the tender age of 5. Whilst I witnessed the elders in my family find it difficult to integrate in the early days (it was much easier for us youngsters of course), they (the elders) persevered and I would like to think that we are now seeing many parts of the UK being enriched with Indian culture especially as the 2nd generation become much more integrated within British society. Sure there are bad eggs of course, there are in every culture, but generally I think the UK has benefited from this influx from India.

In the case of this European influence/infux into the likes of India, it remains to be seen how it will be received. India still has a major problem with the unequal distribution of wealth although it is improving as the middle class grows in size and wealth. It will be interesting to see how the Indian public take to premium brands like Maserati as they are introduced. Trust me, there are people (lots of them) in India that could afford to buy 10 Maserati's at the drop of a hat no problem . Trouble is, the vast majority of them are extremely conscientious and keen not to give off the wrong signals in an environment where this is still a lot of poverty.

As an Indian Maseratisti, I would love for Masser to get a foothold in the Indian mkt and we see lots of Maserati's on Indian roads but I also understand that the path to such success will have to be trodden carefully. At the moment there is a fascination and mystique surrounding brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati among the Indian public. This is a fantastic platform on which these companies can build if handled in the right way. Heritage is always a potentially profitable asset.

A few years ago, I would have said no chance but things are improving in India all the time Blox, especially in/around the larger cities.

To put it into perspective, I had my Testarossa in London for about 4 years before moving to North Herts. Due to the speed humps and pot holes I found myself planning my journey to avoid certain roads - and if you ask me things are getting worse in London for sports cars - not better! To draw comparisons with a car enthusiast driving some Italian exotica in a large city in India (Delhi perhaps) you would similarly get to know the roads and learn to plan your journey. Like London, if you happened to go down a road you hadn't been down before you would drive with caution and keep a look out for imperfections in the road.

Dhanj, all the big brands are already in India.

Lambo (link has pics of their showroom in Bombay): http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/super...-pics-report-lamborghini-mumbai-showroom.html

Maserati opened in 2011: http://www.maserati.com/maserati/en.../2011/04/Maserati-to-enter-in-India-2011.html

Ferrari already have an authorised dealer in Bombay, and I'm sure ahve their own dealerhsip as well: http://www.newdelhi.ferraridealers.com/en_in/about-us

I am sure Porsche, Bentley and Range Rover do.

Yup, they certainly are mate but they have only just arrived. From a market share perspective they haven't even scratched the surface. I'm sure Mass/Lambo/Ferrari all have big plans to sell large numbers of cars in India over time (I hope they do!) but time will tell as to how well they do for my aforementioned reasoning.
