Ok so I bought a little 500 for my wife on a whim but she never drove it - it’s now for sale.

Thinking something a little more modern, two seater convertible, budget 10-12k

A little Alfa of some of description would fit the bill but other idea’s and links to cars most welcome.

I’d stay away from the high mileage M3 and pre lift... unless you’re happy to get a warranty w it

Go for the Alfa spider kamtail, I was going to look up some maserati spiders but you said no maserati.

I like both MX5 as a 'modern', but the Alfas are so delightful, I'd have one; and about £20k still gets a great car, they've got to be undervalued?

...I re-read my posts and wonder how I come to accumulate cars. Oh dear.

I know you said not German, but a Z4M Convertible is a bargain for what you get.

Alternatively a 350Z convertible? Honda S2000?

S2000 is another great car, buy the best and you'll probably not lose much if anything on depreciation.

There are lots or two seaters in your budget of 10 to 12k for your wife...Mazda MX5 is fun.....I wouldn't dismiss German until you drive them against others as the Mercedes SLK is bullet prof and comfy and 12k gets the latest shape...BMW Z4 with the hard top....Porsche Boxster is the best drivers car out of all of them...Get and drive them all.....Alfa doesn't really made a modern convertible which is what you said you wanted. The last one the Brera Spider was not a great drive and the others above are much better....If it was me 12k on a sorted Boxster...a great car...ask Phil on here....he loves his.....Suppose there is also the Fiat 124....Not a fan myself as the Mazda it's based on for me is better but worth a look.
