might be wrong but I thought it sold.

Cars that sell are shown with a ‘winning bid’ figure. It’s interesting to look back at the closing bid values. Same money for a V12 Lusso or Aventador roadster.

Wow that seems like a serious bargain, does not bode well for re-sale prices generally.

The GranSport is as obscure as its ever been right now. Its generally overshadowed by the newer GranTurismo. The entire 4200 range was never really on the spotlight.

But given the cars relative rarity, (Less than 2500 GSs were made) hopefully could help with resale values.

I know it’s Sweden but I was just offered 240,000sek by a Porsche main dealer as a trade in and 300,000 sek by an indie. My car has done 39,000 km and full Maserati main dealer service history.

There is a huge disparity in the GS market and any Maserati that comes up for sale; and from what I saw in the photos of the blue one, the only thing it had going for it was the colour.

It had a large number of faults that would cost, even at an indi c£5-7k to put right and even then you have in imported car with suspect history.

Like any high end car, keeping them in tip top condition is not cheap... my own GS was serviced last year in Sept, a annual service, and again last week despite travelling less than 150. The cost for the last service and some minor work was over £3250, mostly preventative work.

So thinking this is a nice GS at a bargain price is a fools errand, you get what you pay for.

No offence meant here, but after only doing 150 I just don't get the cost v mileage.

Life was very busy last year and this, well even more so... so no time to drive the car... both the GF and I fighting Covid alongside other medical staff.

Yes I could have missed a service but that would have lost more in the cars value than the service, the other cost are to make sure the car remains in tip-to condition. Neglecting this would probably result in a 'low loader' post when I did eventually use the car.

I guess the point I am making is that, yes you can get a low price car but that does not mean that all the stock is therfore worth the same... at this price you are buying a fixer-upper but unlike a house or a car that is appreciating you will likely never realises the savings long term.

I have taken this auction result as officially giving up on worrying about servicing the car myself. Mine hasn't seen an indie for years now (for servicing) and I have been keeping up the service schedule and retaining all receipts. Unless your car is a real minter (mine definitely isn't) worrying about maintaining history for resale isn't IMO worth it.
