Hi all,

Forgive me if I'm on the wrong forum but I have my NCT (your DOE) this afternoon and in typical fashion, a bulb has blown. It will fail the test as a result.

My car is a 2005 QP, the bulb is the passenger side parking (position light?) one, but it seems impossible to get to, is access through the wheel well, or by some other method?

Thanks,

Pat.

Not sure Pat if theres a DIY in the fixes section, but nearly models need wheel, liner and a few other bits and bobs removed for access

Yep, the limit is 99db. Just looked up the correct procudure as per the NCT Manual, .5m away from outlet, 45deg from centerline.

NOW, as there are 4 tailpipes, is my reading of 108db, to be divided by 4, or to be multiplied by 4, in order to get the correct result! The manual only shows how to conduct the test for one tailpipe.

Never mind the gnomes of Zurich..........you've got plenty of them down south by the look of it!

The future is coming..in the shape of the EU.

The NCT/DOE here includes a 'noise' test. The actual testing is dreadfully vague, the fail/pass is really down to the perceptions of the tester (In my experience, a shower of begrudgers, 'fancy car=flash git', I have personal experience of this, having to test several nice cars per year).

Fight the EU buggers, we (in Ireland) just rolled over like some mangy dog looking to have its belly rubbed, obviously no energy left afer 800 years fighting with our nearest neighbour. Now we are just a sad, wasted Republic, the prostitutes of Europe, willing to open our legs for anyone willing to take pity on us.

Now Pat........the prostitute bit I agree with......but comparing the RoI to a mangy dog....thats a step way too far!!!!!!!!!

Funny thing is that my partner is German, and yes, some of the sterotypes are perfectly true.

The latest is that they are pushing for 6 monthly NCT/DOE's on cars over 10 years old. The reasoning for this is that; 'cars over 10 years old, are involved in 52% of accidents'. Obviously, this begs the question, why are cars UNDER 10 years old involved in 48% of accidents?

As for RTE...Really Trashy Entertaiment.

As for comparing the ROI to a 'mangy dog', I refer to the current state of affairs, not the brave souls of the past who must be disgusted with what has been done to the country some of them died to free.
