ATTENTION - ULTIMATE MASERATI 3200/4200 BRAKES GUIDE - THIS SUPERCEED AND SUMMARISE PREVIOUS FORUM DISCUSSION.

The Brembo Ferrari 456 (undrilled) and Ferrari 550 (drilled) discs both fit our cars!!! In fact they are exactly the same, coming out of the same cast apart from the drilling (more drilling than the Maserati original discs on the 550 ones). The hub of the disc are not painted like the EOM ones. The measurement were confirmed to me by Brake international (https://safe.brakeparts.co.uk) which sell a set of 4 Brembo for £290 undrilled and 320 drilled (they are the cheapest supplier in the UK). I you do not care about drilling, on their website they are the ones for the Maserati 3200. They have no listing for the 4200, just buy the 3200 ones since they are the same.
DRILLING
So drillied or not? You choose but here are some relevant facts:
POSITIVE
- Better to look at (?)
- More cooling for the discs (A dear friend of mine who is a mechanical engineer confirmed to me that additional cooling is not material) (BTW this Brembo have a bigger “cavity†in the middle of the plates than the EOM so this will definitely help cooling). Finally, a large number of new high performance cars (i.e Audi S4-5-6, Jaguar XK and even Aston Martin) do not fit drilled discs. So I am not sure this drilling is so important for performance.
- Facilitate the release of gasses from the pads when braking (not really relevant since the recent pads do not release any material quantities of gas)
NEGATIVE
- More noisy (what a difference in my car! The drilled were so noisy)
- Increased pad wear
- A bit more expensive
- Holes need cleaning since they clog (mine were 100% clogged in the inside of the disc).

PADS
The PADS are the same than some BMWs and are the one for the Maserati 3200 on brake international website, I went for the APEC ones. Brake international has best prices for pads too. Seems ok for me. I cannot comment on the "RED STUFF" and similar, but here is a useful guide: EBC Brake Pads

WEAR SENSOR CABLE
Giallo, my independent, which I recommend, insisted to have a new one. It is not clear why but on Eurospares cost £10 so I just bought it. I suppose the old one, will break when removed from the pad. You just need one on the front left pads. Not sure why Eurospares try to sell you 2 but if you insist they will send one. I could not find any alternative OEM part but it might be the same then the Alfa 166. It is not the one indicated on brake international website for the Maserati 3200. Given the cost I was not bother to research extensively.

MY EXPERIENCE
I bought from Brake international the undrilled, high carbon content, with enhanced central pillar cooling Brembo discs (same than Ferrari 456) for £285 and standard PAD (£65). Giallo fitted them for £150.
Much better breaking! But I am not surprised since my original discs had 40.000 miles and deeply rusted! The original pads were also a bit old (10 years) and cooked.
I am very happy with the functioning of the new brakes and aesthetics too! I am just worried a bit about rust on the surface since these are high carbon content discs and I have seen them getting spoiled in one day under the rain on a brand new Mercedes ML. This will not impact braking anyway, only aestetic.

I hope this guide will be useful to other Maserati enthusiats.
