Trip counter problem

Hi all, anyone else have this problem?

Odo runs fine and digital trip seems ok too but my analogue trip doesn't work properly. I can reset it to zero ok but it very quickly stops making any sense!

I guess it's gear driven and something's not quite right - is this a known issue for the coupe or just one of those things which could happen to any analogue trip counter?

Thanks for any insight.

It was a long time ago but I had a similar problem with an Alfa Spider. It turned out that a hair-wire had come lose on the stepper motor. Not easy job to solder but I was able to do it. There are speedo services that will do the same for a bunch of money.

The odometer will be gear driven off a small stepper motor, the stepper motor will in turn be powered and fed off pulse signals processed via a Integrated Circuit IC. It receives the signals and feed from the speedsensor....

If your speedometer works fine but your odometer doesn't, the speedsensor which feeds off the transmission will be fine and the problem will be to do with the odometer assembly.

Could be worn out gears, stepper motor or the ICs/components.....

This is all unless it's a pure mechanical drive unit, which feeds off a mechanical speedsensor and cable.... etc
