Anyone see the carnage from yesterday's Forge Motorsport day at Castle Combe?
I'm sure the days are numbered for these events that attracts the boy racer brigade.
Certainly makes you appreciate the Good ones organised by this Great forum.

Phil, you are right …These action days have always been mental and surprised they still do them. Driven the track many times but with like minded owners….

Is an action day different from a track day?
Or is it a play on words, hoover‐vacuum!

It is a track day yes. Anyone can turn up and pay so the issue is you could have a young ‘un’ in a hot hatch and someone in they 200k supercar on track so a big mixture and ages and cars with lots and lots of different skill levels which has never been great bed fellows…Yes they have the brief on what you can and cannot do but with some of the participants it goes in one ear and out of the other. Plus they have a lot of cars on track as you can see from the video.

When we have done Llandow it has been safe as it was a forum event it has been like minded people with respect for each others cars. Same when I used to do Lotus track days at Combe.

I've done a few track days, but that action track day does have far more cars, looks more like a race!

Wow - glad they are ok.

Without track insurance that will prove very expensive and what about the car the rear ended o_O, what a mess.

I did the Nurburgring without specialist cover, but wouldn’t do so again.

Well that's the thing, the car that was rear ended has no comeback on the guy who hit him. If he has no track day cover, tough!

Exactly the organizers need to come clean as everyone I have done you are told it's not a Race and you can only overtake in specific places.
Marshalls are God and must be Obeyed and you have to adhere to the flags.
You should always be asked if you are experienced on Track and go out in the group to your ability.
To be fair the Best organisation I have experienced has been at Llandow their senior Marshall is an Expert and Witty with it too.

I've watched many track days at Castle Combe, and a real kicker was when a guy in a Lotus 11 (I think it was a very nice replica) slid off at Quarry and kissed the tyre wall. He decided not to continue so hopped over the wall to wait for the end of the session. A few minutes later a Ford Focus left the track and took exactly the same path, landing on top of the Lotus with some force. The same day a Capri was written off at Quarry by its owner who blamed everyone but himself - even the snappers.

Track days are ok if you have a prepped car that you're happy to risk, but imho it's not worth it for your P&J even with track insurance.
