think how many were made in white, very rare car. How many GS Spyders were made you reckon, 3000?
Oi! Pinched my link Adam, you little tinker ;)

Spyders? No clue....I would guess at c50 in the UK? Wasnt there something like 370 GS's (including MC V's) - not sure if that was inclusive of Spyders or just the Coupe.

How many GS's were made? I reckon around 15% were cab's.

370 GS's that is not many in the U.K, but they did have a list price of 66K i am guessing the Spyder was about 72-75k? 15% is probably a good guestimate, you very rarely see them for sale, so lets say 370 GS coupes are in the U.K, and 15% are spyders, that means there is 55/56 spyders in the u.k, i think that is too many, i would say no more than 25 spyder's. But i bet the Spyder was more popular in other countries such as Italy/europe and the U.S.

Funnily enough, the UK actually has one of the highest proportions of cabs in Europe (cars generally, not Maserati specific). Surprising, considering our weather. Having said that, I just sold an M3 cab and there was barely a week that went past when I didnt have the roof down.

couldn't agree more - used to have a Saab cab and if there was a hint of sun the roof was down.
Used to love a crisp midwinter sunny day, or a warm summer's night.

I always think cabs work best in temperate countries - not too hot, not too cold
The thing with the UK is that its not so hot that you have to have the aircon - roof down and a bit of speed works just as well :)

i go cyprus 3 or 4 times a year, its 43degrees in august and i dont see any cabs, here i see them every journey, over there the roof is pointless as its tooo hot down over here its perfect down as its not that hot, a stat that people laugh at but i dont see it that funny i can understand how england has become the biggest cab country of the world

It really pees me off to see people who have bought a convertable, suns out, roof up...why??????.....When I've had one the roof was off at any opportunity.....Oh and whilst I'm on my soap box..These wind deflector things...Wht the ****..why would you want one of these . Not only do they spoil the look of the car but if you don't want to wind in your hair thenbuy a coupe....

Last car was a cab, and I had the roof off at every opportunity.

I'll get flamed for this, but there was a few days where it was actually too HOT to have the roof off! I remember sitting in traffic one glorious day and both me and the missus were burning so I put the roof up. Souds silly, but true.

Re the wind deflectors, I had one of those too. I wasnt that attached to it on warm days, but winter roof off motoring, it was a blessing! superb bit of kit.

THe problem with a convertable like the spyder is that on a bright day at some point the sun gets in the eyes wherever yuo go and its actually hard to see clearly. The solution is a cap or hat but then you look a bit of a chav .
Early evening is also a bit of a problem so in some instances the roof really has to be up.
Take this from experience and the lack of a hat or cap. (smiley face)
