To sell, or not to sell

Well, I put my GT on Fleabay. To test the water as much as anything. And now Car and Classic have been on the phone to get me to put it into one of their upcoming auctions. I've had the car since 2015 and really enjoy it, but an Alfa GTV 916 (the 3 litre 24v Busso) project is due to be finished in a couple of weeks. Plus, I have 3 motorbikes that I love riding. The thing is I don't have the time to enjoy all of these toys. Like many of us, most of my time is absorbed by work.

And the Ghibli has been troublesome recently, a slipped timing belt led to a complete top-end rebuild, all new valves (thankfully bores and pistons were untouched) as well as new timing chains and sprockets while the engine was out to 'future proof' the car. Fortunately, this was done on the workshops insurance as I'd just had it serviced with them. So, a good result ultimately. But then where it's stored the chap taking it out of the warehouse for me accidentally put it in reverse and scraped up the paint on the rear bumper. Again, fixed beautifully and on their insurance.

I also got a couple of other niggly bits done that I paid for and I wasn't happy with the work at all, it picked up some light scratches on the bonnet while it was with the body shop (who happen to be very reputable). So, back it goes again to get the other paint bits put right and the scratches polished out. It just seems to be one thing after another with this car. I think I might have fallen out of love with it a bit, maybe it's the 7 year itch...

So, I find myself torn, keep it or sell it. When I mentioned to the owner of the storage facility that I might be selling it he said "drive it more" maybe he's right, but then it comes back to the old issue of finding the time. I'm sure many of you know 'that' feeling! What to do, what to do...

Sounds like an utter ball ache

I parted ways with my Bella for similar reasons after 7 years. Too much drama to deal with and not enough time/patience/mental health capacity.

GTs HAVE to be used to keep them in fine fettle. Storing them kills them. Suspension seizes, batteries fail, engines don't get that Italian tune up that they require.
If you're thinking about selling then your mind is already made up .

Selling the Busso is a no. It's just coming to end of an extensive restomod and has even fewer miles on the clock than the GT (around 19,000). Plus it has a Wizard exhaust on it and the sound is simply biblical.

I had a Golf GTI a while back that was extensively but subtly modified, took me 2 years to sell that. Not the advertising part, it was only listed for about 2 weeks before it sold, but the decision to sell part...

I have both cars... Hope never to make the decision to sell ...

A Ghibli GT and a V6 Busso Wally? If so then aren't they lovely. The more I think about it the more I'm split. Retirement is probably about 15 and a bit years away, if I can hang on that long I should have oodles of spare time. At least isn't that part of the point of all this!?

And by then, both cars will probably be as rare as unicorn poop.

Each in their own right is lovely. Alfa silky smooth and effortless and Ghibli a bit a rough but exiting piece of exotica. Hang on to both If financially possible.
