Ticking noise - Accumulator??

Hi Guys here is the symptom - Ticking noise in left bank, but not at initial start up.
The noise used to only occur after a good thrashing, now it chimes in every time after a minute's idle.
One time my factory trained Maserati mechanic (who is 200 miles away) showed how it could be eliminated by bursts of revs to cycle the oil up.
As the noise was not permanent and proven it could be somewhat alleviated I wasn't too concerned.
Not knowing what he was talking about then, I now assume this was the accumulator.
Since then I have replaced the oil non-return valve, moved from Liqui-moly 5w-40 to Selenia Racing 10w60, still the noise persists.
I've read on here the variators make noise at the initial start then settle. Mine is not that.
Is an accumulator something that can be cleaned out or just replace it.
I also now know it is situated behind the alternator which we just replaced 3 months ago.
Any expert opinions?

Accumulator only stores pressurised oil for start up. So won't be that.

Sounds like valve train wear- cam lobe(s) worn or hydraulic tappets worn.

Revving the engine will increase oil pressure so it would naturally quieten down the tick noise

Mine had similar occasional ticking from the left bank and I think we've cured it with a replaced chain tensioner. £25 part and not too costly to get to.

Thanks Gp79 & jmd for your insight.
Definitely looks like cam covers off for an expert to review.
