please dont ever confront an intruder physically its a very dangerous thing to do because they have no desire to get caught and no morals.
I once lived in Harrow for 2 years and a guy down the road from me was stabbed with a screwdriver for startling and trying to accost a burgler.He died within minutes.
A lady had her BMW hijacked and the thieves ran her over when the drove away..she died at the scene.
The best thing is to make a lot of noise and ensure that you are in an area that has either a phone or a lockable door and you can pretend to be talking/shouting to the police..."what you can get a squid car (i was going to edit the "squid car" but i kinda like it and would love to see one,so i`m gonna leave it unspellchecked)here in 2 minutes as theres one round the corner Excellent I think the intruder may be armed so please contact the armed responce team!!!!"

I can sympathize mate , i had my thieves on CC tv and it took me 5 days , yes 5 days to get a copper round to view the tapes , altho the socco came round after 36 hours been pisssing down with rain for 24hrs so why they bothered to come at all i dont know , well i do , they were a private company (not Police ferensic) and its a ways of them getting paid altho they said it was pointless as it had rained so hard ,

oh I got a crime number to claim within 20 minutes of physically reporting the crime down the police station , i'd much rather lose everything , and not be able to claim, just to see the coppers at least take an interest its is a sign of the times mate

UM sorry to hear of this continuing saga........time for some big outdoor lights, CCTV and a remotely/noise/action activated huge barking dog surround sound system!

They are renown for re-visiting easy/good picking locations.......just make it more difficult...awkward...annoying for them......

Just read this Peter & having lived in Hampstead for most of my life I'm not surprised. That's not to say I'm not horrified that you have been subjected to this assult twice but again they do it so often. I lived just behind Spanyards Inn and it is just prime for the scum of the earth as they can dissapear onto the heath and imerge anywhere.

Sorry to read all that UM.
but its right that the police dont really care, they can only handle soft crime, speeding etc. and while its easy to say dont tackle them, it's not so easy not to.
I was broken into in my 1st house, which was empty and 1/2 derelict. I couldn't believe how much rage I felt & there was nothing they could nick.
I called the police & 20 mins later heard someone trying the back door, I bounced him off the wall just as he stepped through & was going in for him again as he was going down. fourtunatly for both off us he managed to get his warrent card out just in time.
not my finest moment, but I just reacted.
I now have dogs.
they are just border collies, but defy rambo's big brother to try to get past our little *****.

get a border collie.

Sorry to hear of your troubles UM.

The above is quotes as thats the most wrrying post in this thread, to me. They're fearless and are not bothered at the prospect of being locked up - in fact, I suspect they'd wear some prison time as a badge of honour. It makes me sick that its the honest upstanding poeple who live in fear, while the thieves do as they please fearing nothing. And giving them a hiding wouldnt do anything as they're too stupid to think "hang on...I need to take a look at what I'm doing here...."

Hope you get some sort of satisfaction out of the police and soon feel safe again.

The trouble is even after all those years I spelt Spaniards wrong! shows how angry I am about what happend. Mate My family are all in that area and it is a magnet for this type of crime. I now live in a place that is pole's apart. If I remove the car keys from the ignition My wife goes mad as she can't find them!!!

I'll be staying with a mate in Arkley over this weekend I'll see you on friday at the Malt Shovel
Only a 500 mile spin for a pint. LOL

That was one of the MANY reasons I up'd sticks and left the south east of England. I love to visit now but will never return. I loved my childhood & early twenties around the area but just five mins now shunting up Bishops Ave would be enough to drive me insane. TRAFFIC, I HATE IT!

The thing is the guy's at the ferry would call us if an unfamiliar driver were trying to board the ferry!!!!
