THINKING OF A V12 FERRARI?

I really need rear seats which limits the choice of V12 Ferrari considerably but as some one pointed out to me this week as the SZ is built on a 75 floor pan (and not a shortened one) you can fit rear seats to that. So a set of 75 rear seats recovered to match the fronts, which are due to be redone anyway, and I have my 4 seat coupe which leaves a 2 seater sportscar an option.

It's not been serviced for the last 7 years, so will need a major and a cambelt. Looks like the window regulators need replacing (again) also. So while it might be nice, it could easily be a money pit. You'd have to be feeling very brave indeed to buy a 456 at auction, sight unseen.
You could try calling Tom at Keys Motorsport, as he may know/remember the car and owner.

Yes, and the state of the underside is worth investigating further with what appears to be waxoyl sprayed over surface rust in some of the pictures. Also, the unknown state of the valve guides on these 456 engines is something that puts me off. You’d be brave or foolish to bid on one without seeing it running hot …

...as stated elsewhere, bravery and stupidity look exactly the same at the outset.

£42,750 for a manual 456 doesn't look too bad should leave some room for dealing with any issues that pop up but little things can grow into big things with these easily. Hope the buyer went in with eyes open

Way too expensive. Circa £45k (with fees and VAT) for a high mileage early 456 with missing history, in need of immediate work. Looks like it needs a minimum of £5k of spend instantly, for example just to be able to drive it without risk of the belts snapping and engine imploding!
A dealer might struggle to get that price when selling one fully checked, serviced and warrantied.
Good luck to the buyer, but that’s a very risky purchase.

Totally agree mine was £20,000 less in 2012 and many thought I was Crazy but the history was bang up to date all with the supplying dealer made sense to me.

That 3200 will be inexpensive. Doubt it’ll make £10k. Sounds/looks to be a decent example.
You'd want to give the interior a good sniff.
A lot of the 3200s I've poked around have a particularly familiar (and expensive) musty smell.
It's an auto which isn't something that would usually pique the interest, but No Reserve and what looks like good nick does.

The autos tend to be less likely to suffer from end-float. (The fix for which, on those that do get it, can be more expensive than the value of the car.)

Were parking sensors an option on the 3200?

Guys, the 3200 belonged to a late friend of mine (I mentioned on a previous post). He had quite a collection (550, E-Type, XJS, RR, SL, etc) but this was his favourite. I was due to sell what was left on behalf of his widow but she decided to consign them to Historics to minimise any further emotional involvement. Peter owned the 3200 twice as he sold it to a friend who kept it in storage and didn't really use it. He bought it back and it was last serviced summer 2023 at Emblem. The bill was 2.8k from memory and the usual Emblem list is short. There are some minor things that will need attention but I am told that is the norm on a 3200. It has always been kept in a heated and dehumidified garage. I saw it last week and it is very nice and there is no musty smell. Someone will get a very nice car. Please PM me if you want any more details but I am pretty sure all the paperwork is with the car.
