If it's half decent, might be nice to get a cheap garage in France and leave it there for trips??

Believe me I have tried to buy a Spyder here, but sellers just want really high money for quite old cars and some are rough. As Benny says, you do get used to the scuttle shake on the earlier models and the CC box is a bit of an issue along with other stuff for early year cars. I have just decided to go for a Coupe I think, more sensible money.

when i bought mine I gave it to graypauls in solihul. I just said to them tell me whats wrong with it.
couple of days later I got an e-mail. there was a leak on the gearbox actuator & it needed a lambra sensor. I told them to put a new pump and sensor on and to put on 4 new , matched tyres.
that was all.

maybe I was just lucky.........fabulous car.
we took it around europe a few weeks after i got it. we did 5000 miles in 30 days. loved every inch of them.

I also sent it to jay at gleamingkleen. he gave me a car back that looked like it just came out of the factory.
he posted pics of the work he did on it on the forum.......they may still be around somewhere.

Believe me, I've often thought about leaving my motorbike in France. The same logic applies: I have more fun on it a couple of times each year on empty smooth French roads than on any of the miles I do on it around London.

Well now, maybe we should all club together and get an SMF Members Garage in Calais somewhere??

So we all buy here and sell in France, why not, OK so the steering wheel is on the right, but it would not make a lot of difference to the way they drive, surely??

Dream on :) RHDs are unsaleable in France. The only punters who would consider one are ex-pats thinking of moving back to the UK; a very limited and cash-strapped market.

A shame really; I've had no trouble running RHD cars in France and LHD cars in the UK. The occasional inconvenience at a ticket barrier is a mild problem.

Which reminds me of the time I was out for a few drinks with some mates in Dublin. We were walking back to one mate's Belgian (LHD of course) Fiat when as we passed two Gardaí another mate said "watch this". He made a very obvious song and dance of having a few jars on him and stumbled into the passenger (right hand) seat. One of the Guards was around to him, knocking on his window, like a shot. His colleague copped what had happened and stood on the pavement laughing. My mate wound down the window "can I help you, hic, Guard?" It was like a double-take in a movie as the penny eventually dropped on the poor lad.
