Sticking park brake

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar issue.
A couple of times after washing, I put the car straight back into the garage, where it could remain, as in the last case, for about a week.
When I then goto use the car the park brake blocks almost have seized on, requiring the car to be revved in gear for them to release.
I am guessing its oxidisation on the brakes from washing, but it's never been an issue on previous cars.
Anyone else experienced anything similar?
Thanks in advance...

Make sure that you use "Park Off" all the time so that the hand brake is not engaged, especially after a wash or driving in the wet.
NB of course if you are on a hill then perhaps you should put it on but in a garage on the flat - "P" should hold the car more than adequately

Never use the EPB. Even when stopping for a short period. Always leave it in gear.

Don't ever put the car in straight after washing. You must drive it for a few minutes to dry the brakes etc otherwise you're efforts at maintaining the car well will actually work against you but accelerating corrosion.

Agree with the other posters, it's not wise to use the EPB when leaving the car for prolonged periods.

Is it possible to override the default setting of the EPB engaging every time you turn the car off or do you have to remember to press PARK OFF does anyone know? I have not got into the habit yet and have suffered from a sticky EPB from time to time.

Thanks

Agree with this. You can always take your car for a very brief drive at low speed with your left foot slightly on the brakes and right on the throttle to dry off the brakes.

I believe that unless you apply the electronic hand brake it does not come on. I have parked mine on a slight incline and turned off the engine. On releasing the foot brake it moves forward a touch then stops (on the engine?). If I pull on the electronic handbrake it doesn't.

Manufacturers seems to be increasingly doing this as they realise the fragility of these systems. On my new Discovery it does not auto apply but on the old one it did.

Most EPBs are so loud you can hear them apply after you turn off.

On the QPV the EPB comes on immediately you stop the car unless you have selected Park Off, there is a repeat on the dashboard when Park Off is selected

Firstly many thanks for the replies, it seems this issue is something that is known about, and not a brake problem with my car.
In the set up menu, there is an option to have the EPB auto switch on, or not when you leave the car.
Cheers ....

Thanks very much, I have not seen that in my set up menu - I'll take a look but yes, your issue is not unique I'm afraid
Cheers

Not right. It always comes on automatically unless you push epb off. Otherwise what gear does it know what to put you in? First or reverse?

Its not the electronic handbrake though, maybe the parking brake? Also on turning the car back on, if you have manually applied the electronic handbrake the red warning light is on, if you don't then it isn't...
