Does anyone try fixing kit (Maserati 980138275), I have a leak on the right side, is it worth buying, or just send it to regeneration without buying this kit?

Better off sending it for a complete refurbishment , at least then both sides and all the seals will be done ,

Maserati no longer supply the repair kit, or so Emblem told me two years ago.

Last time i came across this was when i fitted the 6 month old GS steering rack into the 4200 , went through the rigmarole of sourcing the refurb kit ect , but it would have been cheaper to have removed it and sent it away (cost of refurb was £85.00 ) by proffesional specialists with a 2 year gaurantee, ended up buying the GS rack for £150 and fitted that ...job done all for £300 by Roberto including the new rack from eurospares , i reckon now some 6/ years later about £450 all in

Loz, I don't understand. A new power steering box is £1200 excl VAT so how can yours be replaced for 300 all in?

I bought a whole host of front end parts of a 6 month old Gransport that was written off cat B for a (so called supposedly ) hydrolocked engine , within fifteen minutes of the car being off loaded from the transporter me and Roberto had the engine running , but the car had been cat B so had to be stripped regardless , James pumo (owner eurospares) was so pleased he did me a super deal on all the parts i needed and a few more i didn't , like the steering rack and the carbon fibre steering wheel , he charged me £150 for the steering rack and roberto swapped mine over for £150 readies win win , so the labour i reckon to remove and replace a steering rack will be in the region of £250 ish now with a £100 odd quid for a refurb , factor in some posrtage and vat and should be in the region of £450

Early one or late....believe they aren't interchangeable

P

Worth checking out Frank , but im not so sure , remember i fitted an 06 gransport rack to early 4200 straight swap

The differences im aware of is the faster turn in of the later racks, which is a good thing if fitting new type to earlier models and not the other way round, but as far as being interchangeable and straight swap pretty sure they are

I'd be surprised its not a two way replacement , but whats the point of replacing a slower turn in rack to a car thas built for a faster turn in
