Stars on some threads - what do they mean?

I have noticed that some threads have stars, as in this example...



silly question...but what do they mean and how do they get there?

you can rate how good you think the thread is, so 1 start if you think it is **** and 5 starts if you think it is good, nice to see you have circled one of the threads i started Enz which recieved 5 starts

Thanks Adam, I have just seen the 'rate this thread' option, didn't realise you could do that.

Also noticed your thread was rated 5 starts, as you will see the other threads started by Andy and the like are garbage so know one bothers rating them
