Sometimes what you get ismaybe a little bit too much?

Being a right difficult ba$tard to please....My Exhaust is TOO LOUD (ive gone deaf).
I have just had fitted a set of quicksilver full sport rear boxes and they sound wonderful but....they may well be a bit too loud.
I thought the standard set was a bit too tame but full race may be a bit to Racey.
I cant seem to get that happy Medium.
Maybe i need to get used to them a bit.
Also Is it me or is the car slightly less swift with an aftermarket exhaust?
I was told that the system increased BHP by about 16 and that the car would be better due to the free flow of gases?
Maybe i just need to get used to it.

Speaking about this on another..Lots of states from exhaust makers that theirs give you more BHP, but alot of teast say they don't...So believe who you will. One things for sure it shouldn't feel slower. Exhaust too loud...Is there such a thing.

Hi Adam,
If you can, I would say try to stick with it for a few weeks...
the system will take a little time and a few miles to settle down.
Mine is definately NOT less swift after the change, as you say,
probably just need to get used to it.
Regards,
Enzo.

What can tend to happen when you go from a standard exhaust to a louder one is that you fall into the syndrome that noise equates to speed , then when all of a sudden you start off that bit louder you tend to back off the revs earlier than you would of done with it quieter, if you get my drift , believe me , what Enzo says is true , its takes a good few thousand miles for the pipes to get carbonned up , thats when you will achieve the true tone of the exhaust ,i just hope that longish journeys wont become too much of a headache with the quicksilver, many have stated this before , one way round it might be to fit the Vacuum valves to one pipe of each box so that you could soften it when you want to

I will of course stick with it as it took hours to fit and was not entirely a straight forward job with accessability being a real problem.
It is now worth noting that the best way to do this is to remove the wheels and the wheel arch trims and gain access to the exhaust from there.
Remove the intermmediate pipes and the intermediate "locking Bar" and release the brackets from the exhaust by the 2 nuts, but leave the brackets in therubber hangers.everything should just drop out.
Installation is the reverse but the placement of the pipes is a little bit tricky.
Several mechanics tried to do the job but couldnt see the light...... in the end i just told them to remove the wheels and then shouldered the guys out the way and got stuck in (with the help of Baz).
This way i ended up with an exhaust that was straight,no damage to my new alloys (except a small scratch on one side which will have to be redone) and so on.
Great guys... but one of them removed the wheel nuts while the car was on the teleramp and about 5 foot off the ground and didnt realise the wheels have no flange (so when the last nut is removed what will happen?)
Yeh you guesses it...the wheel drops onto the ground!!!
Cost £60 for the use of the ramp and the "help" and destroyed a pair of G-star jeans and a superdry T shirt so about £225 in total..But i am reasonably happy with it.
At £85 PHour Plus Vat Maserati now looks cheap at £150.00...I guess you live and you learn.

to digress......Also noted it now ticks over at about 950rpm instead of the usual 1000rpm.
Sounds absolutly awsome though.

Good write up Adam , but we already have one somewhere that explains to remove the wheels and inner wheel arches , also a good tip is to mask up the inside of the bumper openings to prevent any scratching/chipping to the paint work when feeding the tips through and aligning them up , but looks like you got the job done well thats the main thing , some run of the mill mechanics are **** scared of working on these cars , they have to be too darn careful all the time and it makes them nervous

Bear in mind i have the Spyder so the "Ambient"noise is already rather overpowering.
Going down the motorway at 80 i cant hear the exhaust until i "plant the lead boot down" or drop to 4th then i get the pop,waffle,spitt,hiss,growl..don`t mess with me or i`ll eat you for breakfast.. sounds.
Still had a car with an old couple in it,pull out in front of me at the very last minute from a side junction and proceed to do 20mph whilst i slam on the anchors and prey i dont ding the car..........Eh what was that luv...there was a car coming? eh cant hear you i havent got my hearing aid in and i didnt see it as me glasses are at home on the kitchen table........awwww .Bless them...NOT!!

Ha Ha like you description of the Sunday driver...Had a guy pull out in front of me on a round-a-bout today...must have thought plenty of time for two to come out and had no idea how quick these cars pull off from standing...I almost t-boned him when he lost his bottle and stoped mid way across two lanes...fortunately I was aware he would not make it and slowed...Yep an old guy in a Lexsus

Yeh,i had a car come round a long winding bend on my side of the road and i had to almost Hedge the car and the Old guy was looking at his wife and chatting with her,He looked towards me as he passed and not a moment before.
I nearly turned the car around to give chase, dangerous 8astard !!!

If an old folk in a skoda is a hindrance then is an old folk in a Maserati potentially a hoodlum?

If gullible or anyone wants to quieten down the noise of thier exhaust, i have a standard Ferrari 360 rear box sat here, which has 2 valves (1 on each side)that restrict the flow of air and thus the noise if needed. Not sure if this valve will fit the quicksilver exhaust or any other, but its free to any Sports Maserati member who wants it. then you will just need the vacuum tubing etc to remotely control the valve.

Thanks
