The pound will follow. It is 1.30 today and forecast to 1.35 by end of Jan.

Indeed its been going up this last few months, but this was literally over night, but you'd need to be a trader I suspect to have gotten the top rate!

It's not ideal - that's put up my weekly parking bill at Geneva airport by the same ludicrous jump.

Headlines a bit misleading......you've still got a million swiss francs.......you've gotta swap them into Euro's to gain from the FX.
Given the Euro is a disaster, with deflation, Greek potential default/ exit etc and QE which could get Germany to exit.....you'd have to have some hefty Euro outlays to be tempted....the Euro could fall further......

The Euro will undoubtedly fall further - my French friends are fully expecting QE to kick in there, which will drag it down.

Didn't realise the Euro had fallen so much recently. Good for when I go skiing!
When the Euro was strong down to 1:1 it was great when I was selling my Elise, sold within half an hour to a nice French guy, and could have sold it many times over to other European buyers, it was madness but put me in a nice position to buy the Maser.

I enjoyed a lazy boozy lunch in Geneva on Tuesday. Presented with the bill I couldn't decide whether to pay on my French credit card or my UK one; both would attract an FX transaction fee.

Luckily for me I opted to pay in cash.

That's the problem I always face too, but I can assure you I don't have sufficient Swiss cash to last the rest of the year!

I need to find a way to get some invoices paid in Swiss Francs... Have Sterling, Dollars and Euros covered, but CHF have always eluded me.

I wouldn't bet on the £ going up. Inflation is very low so no rate rises ahead and the election will create a lot of uncertainty which currency markets hate. A labour / SNP coalition would be terrible for sterling (and for anyone inside the M25 I imagine).

I agree, but it's not so much about Sterling rising, more about the Euro falling.
