Car depreciation losers
1. Maybach 62 6.0 S (2003-)

Price new: £338,559
Predicted price after 12 months/10,000 miles: £187,250
Amount lost: £151,309 (44.7%)

Buying a Maybach is possibly the least extrovert way of proving your wealth. This is one car that would struggle to stand out in an empty car park and yet it comes with an eye-watering price tag of more than £330,000. But Maybach must be doing something right - both Theo Paphitis and Peter Jones of Dragons' Den fame own models, although they've opted for the more 'sensible' Maybach 57. But with depreciation working out at £415 a day, you'd need to be a huge fan of the Maybach to want one from new.

Emmmmmm........who or what can afford/want to loose £151K in 12 months?!

The same sort of person who looks at a Maybach and finds it attractive rather than going that looks like some giant overblown Toyota Avensis maybe?

I'm surprised at the responses above - we're on a forum for cars that many poeple dont like, cars that are different and set owners and enthusiast apart from the crowd. The Maybach is the same IMO. I like the looks of them in the right colours. I wouldnt ever buy new, even if i'd landed the £100m Euromillions, but still, I think they're classy, well made and are subtle enough for most people not to look twice at. Kind of a nice S class.

Mind, if I was after a car like that, I dont think (even used) they're worth the money over an S Class.

I lost my license in a 7 series in 2004, quick and quiet a deadly combination, but lovely cars none the less.

If I had to go for a barge that wasn't a QP, i.e. pushing up the luxury bit, I'd take the lwb XJ Jag over any of them. Failing that a "proper" Merc 600, you know the one I mean, good enough for Idi Amin etc etc
